Air America Radio Makes Email Pitch for Cash
CNS News ^ | September 23, 2005 | Nathan Burchfiel

The liberal Air America Radio network this week announced the launch of a fundraising project to help its struggling programs expand into more markets.

In an e-mail to supporters, the network announced the Air America Associates program, which encourages donors to give $50, $100 or $250 to the company.

"When we launched the Air America Radio network one year ago," the e-mail states, "the country was being talked to death by conservative zealots like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and others."

Since its launch in March 2004, Air America has expanded from 16 stations to 70 stations, and states in the e-mail that it now covers 60 percent of the U.S. media market.

"To continue this great success story and start shaping the national debate the way that Right Wing talk radio does every day," the e-mail explains, "we've got to reach into every community in this country. We know we can't achieve this next stage of growth without significant help from you, our loyal listeners."

Air America donors receive bumper stickers and tote bags, depending on the amount of their donation. They will also receive a subscription to a newsletter from the network.

The network recently came under fire for a financial scandal that ended with the network agreeing to repay more than $875,000 to the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club in New York.

Ratings for Air America programs, such as the one anchored by comedian Al Franken, remain low compared with the conservative-themed offerings from Limbaugh and Hannity. In New York City, the number one radio market in the country and where Air America broadcasts on WLIB, ratings have slipped in the past year.

In this age of the Internet, subscriptions aren't uncommon in talkradio. Limbaugh's faithful can spend $49.95 for one-year to "Rush 24/7".

Yes now Err Amerika include that 5 watt monster airhorn located in the basement of Pothead Pete's Mom's house.

70 stations is a STARTING point for a national conservative show.

-"To continue this great success story..."-

"We're so successful we have to beg you for money just to stay on the air!" Har-har-har!

by the way sometimes it's said that the liberals are just starting to get into talk radio, plus it would take awhile for them to get established. But it's not true that they're
getting into talk radio for the first time--how soon we forget the wondrous shows done by Jesse Jackson, Mario Cuomo,
Alan Dershowitz, and Jim Hightower, among others. This legacy of underacheiving is mentioned prominently in a chapter
of Ann Coulter's Slander.

Why would they want to advertise on a network that despises corporations?

Corporations would have no problem with that. The corporate world is full of leftists in upper management positions.

But what corporations cannot abide is wasting perfectly good advertising dollars on a media buy for a venue that NOBODY IS LISTENING TO.

If ERR AMERICA had any sort of audience at all, they would find advertisers. That they haven't successfully done so proves what a masturbatory fantasy "liberal talk radio" really is.

Just goes to show the liberal point of view just doesn't sell in this country no matter how hard they try to ram it down our throats.

Bill O'Reilly may well be a conservative.

Now he is:

Bill "I used to try to hide my conservatism / Now I have to whine like a fake 'populist' in order to recover from my stupid incident with a co-worker / Please love me because I'm ranting about about traffic jams and oil prices like a do nothing liberal to look objective even though I have no facts, but I have to do this to get away from the perv image." It also shows that advertisers are not getting results for their dollars. Apparently advertising on Err Amerika does not yeild consumers of services and products.

[Ratings for Air America programs, such as the one anchored by comedian Al Franken, remain low...]

Back when Al Franken was a bad comedian he was billed as an activist, presumably to excuse his failure at comedy.

Now that he's an activist he's being billed as a comedian, presumably to excuse his failure at activism.

He might not be a comedian, but he is hilarious.

"the country was being talked to death by conservative zealots like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and others."

Ironically enough... Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and O'Reilly were actually in response to years of left wing papers and magazines back when there WAS no forum for Conservatives. Thanks to Rush, G Gordon Liddy, in the early 90's and FreeRepublic, Drudge et al, in the late 90's we are now a force to be reckoned with.

Hell, who brought the protest back? It was FreeRepublic in October of '98 witk the march on D.C.

And what a march it was, too.

Seeing Jim Rob at the head of the column of EVERY STATE in the UNION - and all the armed services - brought a tear of pride to me eyes. How great it was to realize that so many people felt so strongly about their country. Breathtaking.

Everyone knows what they are going to say...it's
the same old debunked victimhood BS, they've been
pushing for the last 80 odd years.

They suck. Failurists and depressing loserists
one and all...pallliad and ghostly craven
reflections of the humans their ancestors uised
to be. Bottom scrapings of their familial gene
pools.

Hows that line go?:

They are the type of people who are only ever
really free, when their freedom is given to them
due to the efforts of people better than themselves.

Yes, and why do the libs need to do talk radio? They already have the left wing papers and much of the TV media, so they can get their viewpoint out there. And if they want to
respond to Fox News, conservative blogs, etc., they can do
it via their OWN establihment media (CNN, NPR, NY Times,
B. Globe) etc.
They wanted to do talk radio to counter what was already
a counter-movement --and to them, if the only viewpoint
ever heard in media is the leftist one, it's fine with them.
And it WAS that way for years.

Didn't Rush start a campaign to send $1 to a liberal candidate? I think it was in the last mid-term election.

I suppose they should send a personal appeal to soros.

He's got plenty of dough...and I can't think of a better person than soros to throw his money down the liberal toilet.
