Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VIII
www.freerepublic.com | September 24, 2005

Posted on 09/24/2005 9:58:36 AM PDT by Howlin

Hurricane Rita landfall is anticipated within the next few hours. Strong winds and heavy rains are battering southern Louisiana and southeastern Texas.

MSM news crews are shouting over the howling winds as they foolishly describe blowing rain, swaying trees, and crashing waves through rain splattered camera lenses. It's a hurricane. We know these things already.

An 18 wheeler rig reportedly overturned on an I-10 bridge. The fate of the truck driver is unknown at this time. Reports of widespread power outages in Lake Charles. KPLC-TV Lake Charles local news has remarkably improvised their reporting from a remote location. They are taking calls from residents, NWS, and public utility representatives, and alerting residents to local conditions.

On the flip side, CNN announced to the world that law enforcement officers had evacuated from Port Arthur TX with the rest of the population. Engraved looter invitations would have been more elegant.

Godspeed to all those in the path of this storm.

Hehe. You get down to Punta Gorda, you let me know, you can join us in SW Florida hydrodynamics. Out since noon hydronamically looking for Reds. East wind; tide did not come in. Small trout and jacks was it. My dudes are really up on the notion of Loch Ninth Ward. Great structure.

"You wouldn't happen to have a photo... electronic or otherwise ... of that red sequin dress? "

If you could attach a printer to my brain... It had to be almost 20 years ago. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I'm no major hound dog (I'd rather have a woman with a brain and a sense of geography then the current crop of FNC info-babes), but that was art. pure art. There may be some publicity photos around. After the wife goes to bed I'll google.

No.

Again, as you've done in many threads in many comments, you're apologizing for the MSM failure to RESEARCH and THINK and REPORT.

They're (as usual) parroting each other, repeating what they've already shown, instead of displaying what we've known (coastal LA and deep southeast (coastal TX) ARE UNDERWATER. Damage (in those areas) is worse than in NO - but it doesn't fit the MSM agenda of showing poor/blacks hit by disaster helped along by black/liberal/democrat politicians/liars who are blaming Bush.

These area are poor, certainly, but the wrong kind of poor: Poor redneck/Cajuns/working people who voted in red counties aren't newsworthy because they are figthing to help themselves.

How much crack can you buy for 23-hundred. Better off giving housing vouchers or submitting rent reciepts.

So does the Brooklyn Bridge. look at a map. Her-roll-dough was just being stupid. Galveston Bay is to the north of Gavleston. The Gulf is to the East. TEXAS is to the WEST. Nothing wrong with looking at a Texas sunset. Nothing at all. It is a GREAT State.

Few shingles here and there gone but no trees on our houses nor is there any flood damage. The shop is another story. I'll try to be on chat later tonite.

Raquel at the 'awards ceremony' in one of those "Naked Gun" movies (which one?) might substitute for the red dress, she wore a metallic number guaranteed to elevate your barometric pressure (well this IS a hurricane thread!;)))

hitNrun post...

Another group that they don't want to show as having properly prepared for expected hurricane and other disasters is those EEEVil oil companies... they could show the refineries with major storm and water damage surrounding them, and the refineries are going to be up and running pretty quickly - all because they were determined to be prepared for this type of weather.

They only want to show the pur (dumb) peeple who can't think for themselves.

Nah, it's just a print, but I liked it. I found a "similar" one online just now, but not by the same artist.
