Ever notive that in most MSM/DNC articles on Weldon/Able Danger(the few they write)... he's always portrayed as a little 'unstable'? I believe when Weldon handed Hadley 'the chart'... Hadley said something like... “I 'gotta show this to the chief”.

He never had the chart so he couldn't have shown it to "the Chief".....Right?

If the Senator is right about this, and Bush saw it, then he is in trouble. Following on from that is who else is in trouble for "canning" the able danger project. I think that includes Clinton and his minions, and that is why the powers that be want to keep a lid on this,Democrat and Republican.

The problem with the Washington Post coverage of the story is that they are protecting their owner's friends.

Boy, they're starting in early on the trashing of this story. But the essentials are intact. There was an Able Danger program, it apparently identified Atta, and the data was destroyed because of DOD/Justice regulations.

Why Clinton-Gore Cannot Be Trusted with National Security

The Chinese espionage scandal and wholesale auctioning of sensitive technologies to China should erase any doubt in the minds of Americans that President Bill Clinton and Vice-President Al Gore are not to be trusted with our country's national security.

The dark legacy left by the Clinton-Gore Administration will place the lives of Americans at greater risk for generations to come. Under the Clinton-Gore watch China stole classified thermonuclear weapons information, stole electromagnetic weapons technology that it can use to attack U.S. satellites and missiles, and stole classified research that can be used to detect and threaten our previously invulnerable nuclear submarines. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

But China did more than just steal information form the United States. Through a complex system of influence peddling and campaign contributions, China was also able to obtain relaxations on exports on a wide variety of sensitive technologies. In other words, the Clinton-Gore Administration gave away sensitive technologies to China in order to please big donors to the Democrat Party.

The relaxation of export controls, removal of national security agencies from the export approval process, and the dissolution of an international forum for controlling the transfer of military technologies under the Clinton-Gore Administration created an environment ripe for mistakes and abuse. It was the equivalent of setting out the welcome mat for the Chinese to gain access -- completely legally -- to our most sensitive technologies.

And the Chinese certainly took advantage of the situation. China -- which until 1996 had no high-performance computers to help design nuclear weapons -- had over 600 high performance computers in 1998, all originating from the United States. The Chinese have also obtained access to precision machine tools that it diverted to build military aircraft, cruise missiles, and nuclear weapons.

The seriousness of this matter is compounded by the fact that China is one of the world's worst proliferators of military technologies. It is likely that this technology will soon find its way into the hands of countries like North Korea, Iran, and Iraq.

Given the serious ramifications of the findings and recommendations of the bipartisan Cox Report, one would think that the American people could expect a serious, thoughtful response from the Clinton-Gore Administration. Instead, all we have seen are Administration attempts to "spin" the report and attempts to convince the American public that the President and Vice-President bear no responsibility for what has happened.

But they do. It was the Clinton-Gore Administration that eliminated FBI background checks at some of our most sensitive weapons laboratories. It was the Clinton-Gore Administration that eliminated color-coded employee ID badges -- denoting clearance levels -- at classified Department of Energy laboratories. It was the Clinton-Gore Administration that reinstated the security clearance of an employee being investigated for giving out sensitive and classified information. And it was the Clinton-Gore Administration that allowed the exports of these sensitive technologies.

But President Clinton and Vice President Gore have spent more energy trying to cover their butts than closing the barn door. The Administration has cracked down on the brave employees within the Departments of Defense and Energy who blew the whistle on the ineptitude of Clinton's political appointees and flawed policy toward China. Meanwhile, the people who bear the blame for the damage to our national security are walking away scott-free.

It is important to note, however, that the recent scandal does not mean that we should completely cut off relations with China or end trade. The United States can continue to engage in meaningful trade relations and the export of materials to China. But we have to be smart about it. We can't be giving China access to technologies that endanger our national security. The Clinton-Gore Administration left the flood gates wide open. There is a middle ground and we need to find it. On the issue of our political relations with China, we need to return to Ronald Reagan's principled approach to foreign policy: trust but verify.

If the Clinton-Gore Chinese espionage has taught us anything, we must learn that our military secrets and technology require constant vigilance and safeguarding. Everything inflammatory associated with ABLE DANGER is based on hearsay. The officers involved admit so. While the Pentagon's response smacks of a cover-up, the sensationalist claims of LTC Shafer, et al, are way-too-late to make a difference. If what Shafer says is true why wasn't he jumping up and down on September 12, 2001. All of a sudden four years later he's making a beef... curiously about the same time he is under administrative action by his DOD superiors.

The ABLE DANGER project was flawed from the get-go and everyone who saw the results saw that and that is why it was shelved and/or destroyed. Funny thing is that NO information from the FBI or CIA - - the two agencies responsible for collection of foreign intelligence against terrorists - - was included in ABLE DANGER. Duh!

Why did Hadley wait until now to deny a claim that Weldon has been making for months?? Indeed, this ADanger thing stinks to high heaven

That's a very authoritative "no problem" statement. Why wasn't A-D even mentioned in the 9/11 Commission report? Why did staffers bury it? Why has there been an apparent effort to downplay it without airing the info?

Do you think that Jamie Gorelick was an able public servant, and correct in her erection and enforcement of "the wall?" While that's a bit tangential to this issue, your answer on that might help me decide whether to pay any attention to your comments on this.

Weldon has said that Congressman Burton was with him when he gave the chart to Hadley. The Washington Pest doesn't mention that - gee, what a surprise.

With these Wash-compost statements, the reporter-and-well-placed-bureaucrat network run by the political class is expanding the coverup.

Investigators and counterterrorism experts also find it improbable -- if not impossible -- that an obscure Defense Department program that used open-source records could identify Atta by name and photograph in early 2000, when he was living in Germany under a different name and had yet to obtain a U.S. visa.

This point, which the compost obtained from its federal bureacratic sources is absolute bureaucratic coverup. Real intelligence analysts know and expect that Atta would have likely travelled under more than one assumed name and with more than one forged passport. While "living in Germany" (where he was not under 24/7/365 survielence) he could have travelled to anywhere in the world, including the U.S. It is only the idiots on the 9/11 commission that would need to have Atta entering the U.S. on a "Mohammed Atta" passport.

While Pentagon investigators never found such a chart, they did uncover two other interesting diagrams: One from 1999 included the name and photograph of Mohammed Atef -- not Atta -- a well-known al Qaeda lieutenant. Another included the photo of a convicted terrorist named Eyad Ismoil, an Egyptian who bears a resemblance to Atta -- and who, unlike Atta, was part of the Brooklyn cell tied to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Atta's Florida driver's license photo from the summer of 2000 has become an icon of the attacks, and the lead hijacker has been the subject of many dubious claims and sightings.

My personal view is that "Atta" is only the tip of the iceberg on what Able-Danger did show and what it had the ability to do. Last week, until the end of the week (had to get their story out to the Wash-compost), the Pentagon was not going to allow the "testimony", and now (the Weldon smear is out) as of late Thrusday or Friday, they've changed their minds and will let the testimony be heard (in closed session I think). My personal view is that through the Pentagon bureacrats in that hearing, the political class is going to start taking Weldon to the woodshed. Clinton's people, GB-II's people and possibly GB-I's people are implicated, and those implications, I think, are more than just being negligent.

The best laid planes of mice and men often go astray, particularly at the nexus of our intelligence apparatus, and those with whom it is necessary for that apparatus to have friends, acquaintences and alliances.

We have been told that our human intelligence has been weak for a long time, yet we seem to have always known where Bin Laden was and alot of what he was up to; we identified the exact Al Queda culprits fairly quickly in most of the terrorist acts on us in the 1990s and before the dust settled in Manhatten we knew the identities of all 19 hijackers and an awful lot about them.

Yet by the media and official sources we are led to believe we have never had anyone inside Al Queda?

What the Charts Show

The two charts together reveal, among other things:

A systematic, well planned effort by the Chinese military at the highest levels to target and acquire technology for military modernization.
That the targeting effort and financing to acquire the technology and buy influence at the highest levels of US Government were planned and implemented by Chinese military Intelligence through the second department under the General Staff Department (GSD).
That the Chinese military acquired many of the technologies over the past seven years, although many of them had been targeted for acquisition for more than a quarter century.
That the Chinese military set up a series of front companies and cut-outs to mask its technology targeting efforts and to launder money to hide its origin. Chinese military intelligence even resorted to the use of companies and bank accounts of the infamous Macau and Hong Kong Chinese Triad for this purpose.
That even after the US Government learned of the diversion of the W-88 nuclear warhead design in late 1995 into 1996, the Clinton Administration continued to liberalize export controls on such sensitive technologies as computers, encryption, machine tools, telecommunications, stealth technologies, space launch technologies, satellites, the array of hot section technologies to improve the performance and life of Jet engines, and high temperature furnaces essential for the production of components for missiles and nuclear weapons.
- Despite knowledge of the U.S. designs for nuclear warheads, for example, the Clinton Administration still undertook a serious effort to redefine supercomputers to allow for increased exports of high performance computers to China. Rationale was not based on strategic criteria. Instead, it was governed by economic considerations of a few companies whose executives had supported President Clinton in 1992 and again in 1996.
- A September 1993 letter from President Clinton to Silicon Graphics CEO Edward McCracken, for example, promised to liberalize export controls of computers, machine tools, and telecommunications technologies (attached).
- In another instance, one National Security Council official in March 1998 -- some two years after knowledge of the W-88 and other U.S. nuclear warhead design diversions -- had proposed blanket waivers for satellite sales to China in exchange for China joining the Missile Technology Regime.
That the Clinton-Gore Administration certified China in January 1998 to receive nuclear technology for being in compliance with non-proliferation regimes, even though there was strong evidence that the Chinese government was continuing its proliferation activities with Iran, North Korea, Syria, Pakistan, and Libya. Such proliferation activities, which were contrary to U.S.-Chinese understandings, continue unabated to this day.
That the cumulative impact of these targeted technologies now permit China to:
- Develop reliable Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles with insights into MIRVing that ICBM force.
- Miniaturize nuclear warheads.
- Implement a command and control structure for its growing ICBM force.
- Develop an integrated command, control, communications, computer and intelligence encrypted network to enable better military command and control over vast areas, even beyond China itself.
- Improve power projection for its surface fleets, submarines, and long-range cruise missiles capable of hitting not only Taiwan, but also Japan from mainland China.
- Produce more proficient fighter and bomber aircraft capable of greater distances and speeds.
That the administration as early as 1994 systematically dismantled its system of monitoring the influx of Chinese and other foreign nationals visiting U.S. high technology companies, including our nuclear weapons labs. As a result, there are many tens of thousands of Chinese in the United States and we don't know where they are or what they are doing.
- In fact, it wasn't until this year just prior to public revelations of alleged Chinese espionage in our nation's nuclear weapons labs that the Energy Department decided to seek export licenses from the Commerce Department for foreign national visits. Yet, the requirement had always been law. And where was the Commerce Department in not forcing the issue with the Energy Department?
The notion that Chinese and other foreign nationals would be allowed access to information or to the facilities where U.S. nuclear weapons were developed is unconscionable. It is seriously doubtful that the Chinese labs would allow U.S. scientists into their nuclear weapons labs.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China has launched its first manned space flight from the Gobi desert, Xinhua news agency says, in its bid to become the third country to put a man in orbit after the former Soviet Union and the United States.

The Shenzhou V, or "Divine Ship V", was expected to orbit the Earth 14 times before returning after about 21 hours.

Xinhua said the craft carried astronaut Yang Liwei, 38. The launch on Wednesday, 42 years after the Soviet Union put the first man into space, marked a milestone for China's secretive space programme, which analysts say has its sights set on a manned mission to the moon.

What has Mr. Chung told us? He has told us that General Ji Sheng De, the head of the military intelligence of the People's Liberation Army, which is the equivalent of our CIA, gave him $300,000. General Ji would be the equivalent, as I said, of our CIA. It was wired to him through Lieutenant Colonel Liu Chao Ying of China Aerospace, whose father was the head of the People's Liberation Army at one time and a member of the hierarchy in the Chinese Government.

Mr. Chung has told us that the general told him the following: ''We really like your President. We hope he will be reelected. I will give you 300,000 U.S. dollars, and you can give it to your President and the Democrat party.'' Shortly after this Mr. Chung gave $35,000 to the DNC.

Mr. Chung has told us that he was told other people were also giving money to ''do good things for China.'' One of the other people who was mentioned was Mark Middleton, a former high-level White House aide. He was told that Mark Middleton got a half a million dollars from a source that remains unclear. Mr. Middleton has taken the fifth with this committee. He has refused to talk to us.

Johnny Chung has also told us that he was told that a Boeing representative from Hong Kong, a Mr. Young, was also working with the Chinese Government. We still haven't resolved who this is.

Johnny Chung has informed us that he was told by another source that Charlie Trie asked the Chinese Government for $1 million to help the President. He'll testify that he saw the head of the United States consulate in Beijing take cash in exchange for visas. This is just outrageous.

Did Mark Middleton get half a million dollars from the Chinese Government? If he did, what was it for? Did Charlie Trie try to get $1 million from the Chinese Government, and did he get it? We know that he got over $1 million from a Macau developer with close ties to China.
