You think I am not aware of those points.

Louisiana has had corrupt government as far back as I know.

I am not "letting that go",,I was the first person here screaming about Gov Blanco.

What I am objecting to is that there is a dismissive wave of many freepers hands suggesting everyone here is a looting, Luis Vuitton wearing scam artist, cry baby, corrupt politician, stupid sinner.

And a large body of citizens is too damned busy taking care of each other to want to march on the State Capitol.

I don't think the picture down here is clear for many people stuck in their own private ruts.

ANd I think people forget that this has never happened on this scale in NO, never. NO has been around two hundred years plus. This is a huge geological or meteorlogical event, very similar to the dust bowl or the great Miss floods but it is telescoped into days. THe politics, the deaths even, the looting is all going to be a footnote to the drama taking place of an entire population being disseminated all over. All I can think of that is similar is the movements of Indian tribes, the vale of tears or whatever it was called.

I don't think people are going back, if that city is rebuilt it will take many more years and many more dollars than can be afforded. I think NO is in ICU on machines and people don't know it yet.

I think NO, St Bernard, most of Plaquemine are gone for good.

Find a post where ANYONE states that EVERYONE is like that.
Your OWN OFFICIALS stated that bus drivers were AFRAID to drive the buses because of the fear of danger from YOUR OWN CITIZENS.

You harangue people and tell they they have no right to judge someone because that poor person lost everything and is so bereft.

Sorry, but we DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE someone who spends 2000 on a Louis V bag. I bet many people who actually donated money don't have Louis V bags.

Some Texans didn't do themselves proud, either. There were multiple fights at gas stations. It was also reported that some motorists in the front of gas lines not only filled their tanks but multiple containers. Then they would go to the back of the line and try to sell them. Also, in Luflin, armed men stole filled gas containers from the back of city trucks in front of the workers. I think that if there had not been so many cops present, we would have seen much more looting and chaos.

I think you're wrong. It's a matter of chance, but it cuts your way.

The Mississippi River drains (and offers access to)1/13th of the United States.

We simply MUST have a port there.

Ports require staff, staff requires food, food store peeps like a beer now and then, they all need gasoline, etc., etc.

In the absence of Federal rebuilding dollar number one, market forces would rebuild New Orleans on an "as needed" basis, starting with the easiest parts to reclaim. As time goes by and space gets tight, more area will be drained and rebuilt.

In this case, however, you will see a $200 billion dollar jumpstart to natural market forces.

'Taint gonna be pretty for a long while, but I bet you see some cowboy spirit as a result.

Corps official on Fox saying not doing any pumping in NO. Missed reason for not doing so (suspect due to breeches/overtopping in levees so wouldn't do any good).
