Hurricane Rita landfall is anticipated within the next few hours. Strong winds and heavy rains are battering southern Louisiana and southeastern Texas.
MSM news crews are shouting over the howling winds as they foolishly describe blowing rain, swaying trees, and crashing waves through rain splattered camera lenses. It's a hurricane. We know these things already.
An 18 wheeler rig reportedly overturned on an I-10 bridge. The fate of the truck driver is unknown at this time. Reports of widespread power outages in Lake Charles. KPLC-TV Lake Charles local news has remarkably improvised their reporting from a remote location. They are taking calls from residents, NWS, and public utility representatives, and alerting residents to local conditions.
On the flip side, CNN announced to the world that law enforcement officers had evacuated from Port Arthur TX with the rest of the population. Engraved looter invitations would have been more elegant.
Godspeed to all those in the path of this storm.

Remember "how long" it took the administration to have troops on the scene in Katrina (3 1/2 days) ? My guess is, it will take just about as long in the wake of Rita.
Those were Airsofts?
Don't they realize they could have put an eye out??
Wait till their father gets home!
pray for comfort, bail for effect
Did you just change you tag line? LOL!
I know the cat made a "stinky" by the window!
---Kimchi is Korean fermented cabbage and my husband says it stinks to high heaven and it smells absolutely toxic.---
In Korea, in the fall, the sidewalks are covered with drying red peppers used in making winter kimchi. They mix it up with cabbage and garlic and what not and put it in huge jars up on the roof to ferment. You eat the stuff all winter. By the time you hit the bottom of the jar in May the smell can knock you down. It's served cold, but good winter kimchi is hot enough to warm your stomach. People can smell you coming a long way off. There's nothing quite like the smell of kimchi. If a cat fell into the jar and died you wouldn't know it until you found the bones.
I like kimchi. :^)
Yes, but if you can get past the smell, it is delicious (and hot)!!!
On this thread, yeah. :-)
It freakin' stinks. Hangs at the back of ones throat.
Oh very creepy! Thanks for the link. I had to mute the creepy music, though. Husband is still at work and I am a CHICKEN!
If you see Shep fly by, let us know.
It's water temps that do it. As the surface cools, it eventually becomes colder than the bottom of the lake, and because colder water is more dense than warm water, it sinks.
I'll bite, what?
We lived in Baton Rouge for a short time and as best as I can remember, it is a bayou type smell. We also have family in Beaumont and that whole section of Texas and Louisiana has a different smell. It's a lot like that.
Yeah, that thing does seem to catch fire on a regular basis, doesn't it? It's in the wrong direction for that to be it for me - I'm in Richardson near the 635/75 interchange (High Five).
Do you have this link?

Works for me.
Does your cat leave his kills on the doorstep or in the bushes?
There is a logical explanation.
Thank you...for your post...
and I noticed someone else posted information about the owner of the bus...who might be the REAL culprit ultimately...
Although, my goodness, doesn't it sound like the mechanic also made a mistake...
The facts though are these poor people died..and we KNOW the driver helped some of them live...enough said, right now.
