Hurricane Rita landfall is anticipated within the next few hours. Strong winds and heavy rains are battering southern Louisiana and southeastern Texas.
MSM news crews are shouting over the howling winds as they foolishly describe blowing rain, swaying trees, and crashing waves through rain splattered camera lenses. It's a hurricane. We know these things already.
An 18 wheeler rig reportedly overturned on an I-10 bridge. The fate of the truck driver is unknown at this time. Reports of widespread power outages in Lake Charles. KPLC-TV Lake Charles local news has remarkably improvised their reporting from a remote location. They are taking calls from residents, NWS, and public utility representatives, and alerting residents to local conditions.
On the flip side, CNN announced to the world that law enforcement officers had evacuated from Port Arthur TX with the rest of the population. Engraved looter invitations would have been more elegant.
Godspeed to all those in the path of this storm.

Don't do it!
Send it to Houston.
We need the booze!
HAHAHHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
Fine! I'll put some...moonshine...in the coffee!
As the water gets more shallow, the winds drop. It's still a very dangerous storm. That area floods with a good thunderstorm.
I'm not advocating this at all...just a question. Will the occasional reality of gridlock, and the media driven perception of total, constant gridlock give more life to Gov. Perry's I 35 corridor plan?
Oh man, I got that wrong too... I stocked a gallon per person per day. It's gonna take a century of new year's parties to get rid of this stuff.
Heading for bed, because I just can't take any more. I know where the gasoline pipeline is, and also where the natural gas pipeline is. I just can't deal with my imagination anymore, so better go to bed...
Hope we are all able to "rise to the occasion", as they say...

- Movement in the hour since the AF309 fix (I am discounting the previous AF306 fix 37 minutes ago) - 15 minutes north, 1 minute west (356 degrees, 15 knots, 17.3 mph)
- That puts Rita 27.8 nm/32.0 miles and 139 degrees from Sabine Pass (Rita would need to go 319 degrees to hit Sabine Pass dead-on)
Hang in there. We're praying for you.
My husband watched it... SciFi Friday is his thing and no one can interrupt him. He said tonight was supposed to be the end of the season already???
It is simple
The Battlestars are basic. They just use what works. They don't network the computers so the Cylons cannot insert viruses into the system.
At least the Galactica doesn't.
Notice how they also have those crazy howler phones you see in WW2 warships?
Since we are on the subject, keep in mind, there are 8 different Cylon humanoid models, and we have only seen four of them.
There are any number of major characters that could be Cylon agents..
Like Sol Tighe's wife, or Admiral Cain.
And ask your citizens to help where they can - let's not forget that. That was a very important element of what happened. People who had space in their vehicles were picking up their neighbors and taking them out of danger. Other people were picking up stranded people from the side of the road and taking them with them.
And let's not forget the volunteers that went out in the Houston buses to distribute water and pick up the stranded.
Try more like 4+ million people.
No politician except Laura Miller would be stupid enough to even try that here.
Landfall of the eye has now taken place per Fox.
Get yourself off-line and into the best-protected part of your house (basement if you have it, interior room on the bottom floor if you don't) NOW!
Road trip!!!!!!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
