(SACRAMENTO) The national organization that supports our troops and the war against terrorism, Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org), has announced a national pro-troop bus tour that will stop in more than 20 U.S. cities en route to Washington, D.C. including a Saturday evening 9/24/2005 stop in Baltimore, Maryland at John Hopkins University.
*John Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD) Saturday, September 24, 2005
5:45-6:45 PM - Rally & News Conference at John Hopkins University at the Glass Pavillion - located right by Levering Hall and Gilman Hall. Support the Troops banner-sheets will be on display, for you to sign and include a message of support. The sheets will be sent to the troops upon the completion of the nationwide bus tour and Washington, D.C. rally. Audience members will recite the pledge of allegiance to protest the ruling against the pledge by activist U.S. District Judge, Lawrence Karlton.
Deborah Johns, mother of Iraq war veteran William Johns (served 2 tours of duty and will soon return for 3rd tour in Iraq), and Joseph Williams (Gold Star Father son Michael Williams died in combat in Operation Iraqi Freedom) are leading the pro-troop bus tour across the nation. Mr. Williams is from the same home town as anti-war activist, Cindy Sheehan.
At the Baltimore (John Hopkins University) rally stop, Support the Troops banner-sheets will be on display, for members of the public to sign and include a message of support. The sheets will be sent to the troops upon the completion of the nationwide bus tour and Washington, D.C. rally. [See www.SupportTheTroopsWeekend.org for more information on this weekend's pro-troop rallies & events.]
Audience members will also recite the pledge of allegiance to protest the ruling against the pledge by activist U.S. District Judge, Lawrence Karlton.
Last month Deborah Johns teamed up with Move America Forward to lead the You Dont Speak for Me, Cindy Tour, which attracted thousands of supporters across the nation and received international news coverage.
The You Dont Speak for Me, Cindy Tour received an absolutely phenomenal response from the American people. I hope the American people will come on out to our stops across the nation on this tour to show their support for our troops, said Deborah Johns.
Its especially important that we continue to stand up to show our support for our troops and their mission as the elections in Iraq approach. The terrorist insurgency is counting on negative people like Cindy Sheehan to undermine American support for what were doing in Iraq, said Johns.
The message from my son and almost every other one of our military men and women who are serving or have served in Iraq is clear: They need the support from the people here at home. How can we deny them this simple request? asked Johns.
Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward explains the purpose of the bus tour:
To those misguided individuals who are trying to undermine the mission our troops are serving in, let us make our message loud and clear: we will travel to any place at any time to rally together the American public to oppose your defeatist, anti-military agenda, said Melanie Morgan, Chair of Move America Forward.
We will not sit back and let the Blame America First crowd try to turn this generation into a hybrid of the Vietnam protest era. Never again will our nation turn its back on our troops or their mission.
Most importantly, we will never send a message to the terrorists that we are prepared to cut and run. The United States will never surrender to the terrorists, and they should understand full well that those shrieking voices coming from the radical left do not speak for the majority of Americans, Morgan concluded.
Joseph Williams has stepped forward to tell the story of his brave son, and his service to his country to rebut the efforts of fellow Vacaville, California resident, Cindy Sheehan.
Williams is joining Move America Forward, the national non-profit organization that supports our troops and the war against terrorism, on a national pro-troop bus tour that will stop in more than 20 U.S. cities en route to Washington, D.C. beginning Monday, September 19th in northern California.
Im joining this bus tour because I believe we are doing the right thing in Iraq. I totally support our troops and what theyre doing to win the war against terrorism, said Williams.
Cindy Sheehan doesnt seem very supportive of our troops. She seems to have gone off the deep end and saying ridiculous things and its aggravating to say the least, Williams said.
The Support The Troops And Their Mission bus tour is conducting rallies in over 20 U.S. cities including: San Francisco, California; Vacaville, California; Sacramento, California; Reno Nevada; Elko, Nevada; Salt Lake City, Utah; Cheyenne, Wyoming; Fort Collins, Colorado; Denver, Colorado; Lincoln, Nebraska; Omaha, Nebraska; Des Moines, Iowa; Rockford, Illinois; Chicago, Illinois; Indianapolis, Indiana; Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Shanksville, Pennsylvania (site of Flight 93 crash in 9/11); Baltimore, Maryland; and Washington, D.C. An itinerary of the tour & rallies is being continuously updated at: www.MoveAmericaForward.org

93.1 WPOC - Baltimore's Country Music stations - emailed info to DJ's working tonight and Saturday morning requesting that they mention the rally details on the air.
Contacted news departments and a number of on air anchors at FOX 45, WBAL 11, WJZ 13 and WMAR 2.
Contacted newsrooms at WBAL 1090am and WCBM 680am, and where possible emailed the rally info to local talk show hosts still scheduled for today and Saturday morning requesting that they mention the event on air.
Another FYI about this event, Johns Hopkins College Republican president Jared Ede is organizing this event on campus.
Shawn forwarded me a copy of his email.
Think of the men and women risking their lives everyday over there in Iraq & Afghanistan and give up a few hours of your time to support them.
Deborah Johns' son has already served 2 tours of duty in Iraq and is going back for his 3rd. Joseph Williams son, Michael, served and made the ultimate sarcifice, dying in combat.
Certainly these two people deserve an audience of supporters as big or bigger than Cindy Sheehan.
Please make the event, please pass on the word to others, etc...
PINGing Maryland FReepers... please help spread the word and help build up a crowd!
Would love to be there, but I have to coach a hockey game in York, PA tomorrow at 5:00pm.
