A state prison in Fishkill, New York, Thursday welcomed former Tyco International executives L. Dennis Kozlowski and Mark Swartz -- as inmates.
The former executives convicted of stealing $600 million from Tyco, arrived at the Downstate Correctional Facility from Rikers Island, where they've been since their sentencing on Monday.
The Fishkill prison is a reception center where male inmates stay for several weeks while waiting to be assigned a full-time prison. Kozlowski and Swartz were sentenced to 8-and-one-third to 25 years in prison.
At Downstate, the two got the standard short haircut and prison clothing. Because of their high-profile cases, they'll be housed in a 36-cell protective-custody unit. Each cell is 90 square feet.
The former executives will begin their sentences at one of 16 maximum-security prisons in New York state. They'll be eligible for a less secure prison in two years.
Better start with those morning stretches.
Perhaps they can begin with their sphincters.

These guys are at least getting some pretty nice cells, 90 square feet. That works out to about 12 feet by 7.5 feet, a lot more than the 9x5 that was the standard size at Alcatraz. They're also not being kept in the general population. Looks like they're still getting some pretty special treatment.
yes, but honestly, the opposite is also true. I personally know of a case where a computer system's engineer was given 12 months federal time simply for reading co-worker's email. He has a wife and 2 small children who will be reduced to poverty status and fatherless simply because the prosecutor (an idiot) is writing a book about being a high-tech cyber-cop, and the judge has computer-phobia.

These are men who achieved great things with Tyco - great things - they created jobs - they paid dividends.

PC units really suck. You don't get a normal work detail (which helps pass the time and can actually be a fun gig if you get a good one) and you are in lockdown 23 hours a day -- which is how they PUNISH other prisoners.
They stole stuff - They got busted.
