Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

Shame on you... I'm going to use mine wisely, buying only things needed for survival. Like Bass spinners, maybe a new trolling motor, you know, necessities.

KHOU TV has an interview with a survivor from the bus wreck.

Does this mean you cleaned your cache? I know this is a very personal question...

Not really... he just said that they were on the side of the road and were changing a tire and then the fire started.

Do you not get rain all summer? Here in So Oregon it rarely rains after April (this year was a rare exception) and not until November--except for a few showers.

Every year it's a struggle to keep my plants alive--specially the Rhodies--but with careful watering (deep and not frequent) they manage to survive. In the Spring the yard is very pretty--but this time of year things look a little tired--just like me!

Can you believe those reporters - 3-5 talking at once? I agree with your statement about Mr. Wilson. I loved his comments about the nurse and the news reporters! (o:

He sounds like Gen. Honore.

You got that right!!

"Mr. Jackson: Did you feel that the bus was safe?"

Answer: "I'm not the expert on that. Go ask someone who knows."

Only thing better would be "You are Stuck on Stupid."

The worst winds in Ascension Parish were supposed to start around eleven or noon and be at their worst until late tonight. As the storm moves west, the winds here will slow a bit. I'd guess that the situation would be similar for Terrebone.

The dolt on Fox just said "it may not be as bad as first predicted, or even as bad as predicted now". Any relatives of a casualty should wind up owning the network, and reducing Shep to pauper status. His opining as news is criminal.

Somebody smoking - aching for a cigarette after many hours of being cooped up in the non-smoking bus - amidst the oxygen bottles! - is my guess on the real cause.

Nothing bad to report here out in the western suburbs of Houston. Hot gusty winds with dark clouds approaching from the southeast. I suspect that's the first band of hard rain we'll get.

I just talked to a neighbor who was insistent on calling 911 to get the stop sign removed from the corner of her yard.

I guess it's wobbling too much in these 25 mph winds, lol.

It ain't an offer.

It is a demand. If they need help and my people can help we WILL help.

Here is my cell number and before any more people get their nickers in a bunch I am not hard to find. Posting my number here is not an issue.

(281) 850-2766

Have them call if they need help.
