IRAN has hailed as a "significant victory" the EU climbdown from its demand that the UN nuclear watchdog send the Islamic state to the UN security council.
Opposition from China, Russia, India and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) stopped the EU reporting Teheran to the UN's highest body for possible sanctions, Mohammad Saeedi, deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation, said today.
"The EU's withdrawal was a significant victory for Iran," Mr Saeedi, also a member of Iran's nuclear negotiating team, said.
The EU has dropped the demand from a revised draft resolution after nearly 15 of the 35 members of the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) governing board, including China and Russia, opposed it.
Iranian negotiator Javad Vaeedi said Iran's strong diplomacy pushed the EU to drop its security council push.
"Our firm stance, China and Russia's backing and also a lack of legal basis caused the EU's withdrawal," the official IRNA news agency quoted Mr Vaeedi as telling reporters in Vienna.
"Also, as they were not sure about the outcome of the security council, they reviewed their draft," said Vaeedi, the Supreme National Security Council deputy in charge of international affairs.
Mr Vaeedi warned the EU against including a so-called "trigger mechanism" in the new draft resolution that would set the stage for a referral to the security council if Iran resumed activities linked to uranium enrichment or was found to be hiding any more sites from the IAEA.
"If America and the EU include such a mechanism in the IAEA's resolution, ending snap inspections will be part of our strong reaction," he said, referring to Iran's current implementation of a protocol giving UN inspectors greater access to atomic sites.
The euros weenied out again. What a pathetic bunch of pantywaists.
They are really a bunch of girlie boys.
Cheese eating surrender monkeys
Not surprising when you consider they're chickensh*ts.
If this case goes to UN and then follows the pattern of Iraq, it will be US to take action, not EU anyway.
Chamberlain raising his ugly head.
AgencyFrancePress Headline:
Germany's Chancellor Herr Hitler today lauded German National Socialist principles as the determining factor
in the Munich pact signed by Mr. Chamberlain of Great Britain.
"We have shown that the nations of the world have nothing
to fear from a re-armed Germany", Herr Hitler said today
while reviewing elements of the WaffenSS. and viewing
several new models of the Panzer tank.
You know what? screw it. Let's sell the Iranians some ballistic missiles with a range that can reach China, Russian and France -- put a shield over Israel, and let the weenies worry about it.
The temptation is strong...
Guess what guys?
They are right.
Absolutely good for nothing at all.
The European Union of Socialist States.
" If this case goes to UN and then follows the pattern of Iraq, it will be US to take action, not EU anyway."
De ja vu all over again. We take the bull by the horns, and then our European "allies" talk sh*t about us, accuse us of not going the extra mile, and then stab us in the back.
Are the salesmen lining up to supply Iran's revitalized arms industry. As I recall, China, Russia, France and Germany did rather well in Iraq.
The bull three times bigger than Iraq.
