Editor's Note: This article is the first in a special LiveScience series about the theory of evolution and a competing idea called intelligent design.
TODAY: An overview of the increasingly heated exchange between scientists and the proponents of intelligent design.
COMING FRIDAY : Proponents argue that intelligent design is a legitimate scientific theory, but a close look at their arguments shows that it doesn't pass scientific muster.
Science can sometimes be a devil's bargain: a discovery is made, some new aspect of nature is revealed, but the knowledge gained can cause mental anguish if it contradicts a deeply cherished belief or value.

Darwin's truth can be a hard one to accept. His theory of evolution tells us that humans evolved from non-human life as the result of a natural process, one that was both gradual, happening over billions of years, and random. It tells us that new life forms arise from the splitting of a single species into two or more species, and that all life on Earth can trace its origins back to a single common ancestor.
Perhaps most troubling of all, Darwin's theory of evolution tells us that life existed for billions of years before us, that humans are not the products of special creation and that life has no inherent meaning or purpose.
For Americans who view evolution as inconsistent with their intuitions or beliefs about life and how it began, Creationism has always been a seductive alternative.
Creationism's latest embodiment is intelligent design (ID), a conjecture that certain features of the natural world are so intricate and so perfectly tuned for life that they could only have been designed by a Supreme Being.

I believe you are 100% correct about this.
And within species, mustations take place, but they do not evolve into new species.
How's that billion-year-old human fossil coming?
Any further dialog, then, is pointless. In your worldview, you cannot account for logic, far less the science built upon its presuppositions. The laws of logic a truth proposition for which there is no emperical evidence. We may as well be discussing some lake in Africa since words, under your worldview consistently applied, have no meaning.
You have not asked a question. You have done what fools do, submitted a hypothetical, an old scheme used by those who are to stupid to come up with a real question. A typical evolutionist side stepping step.
now go climb back under your great, great grandfather 100,000 times removed and cry your little girl tears.
When you are to stupid to think, you ask a hypothetical question, when you have a brain you dont need to go outside the realm of reality and go with hypothetical questions.
Now little pony girl, go to sleep, be a good girl and go clean your room. And remember, stay away from real men.
How about giving me your enlightened definition of the six types of evolution, maybe you could take off your shoes for that one, after all, unless you have evolved from a six toed frog, you'll probably run out of fingers after five.
P.S., Anyone who refers to the "six kinds" of evolution is an uneducated moron. But I guess you're answer is: "who needs that fancy book learnin' when we can read bible," right?
Why? You can't converse and exchange views with someone who doesn't agree with the religious premises you believe in? Isn't that a bit small minded?
One day, your scientific knowledge will include an understanding of "kinds." (Genesis 1:11, 12, 21, 24, 25, etc.). It will be taught to you. (Matthew 12:36; Revelation 20:12-15)
No it won't. "Kinds" is a literary term that means nothing. Even you can't define it.
Jake
So what's it going to be, you gutless weakling? Are you ever going to answer my question? If your stupid, damn-fool book told you something that was laughably false, (like the Genesis fairy tale, complete with a talking snake, a magic fruit tree and woman growing from a rib) would you believe it really happened? Or do you have actually possess half of a brain in your head to admit that it's all just made up nonsense?
Fess up, you lame-ass coward, if the bible said "cats lay eggs" you'd believe it, wouldn't you, because you're too pug-ignorant from poisoning your mind and your thinking processes reading bible tracts and listening to ignorant preachers to think for yourself...
Or simply admit that you dont have a definition.
