Yep. We can use lethal force to protect our property, and we can, collectively, protect our neighborhoods with lethal force if the police or NG can't do it.
That second mission is the reason you won't see police or NG taking our weapons away.
We are the second line of defense.
There won't be much looting. Count on it.
There is an interesting and desirable quirk about Texas law - a law-abiding citizen is allowed to use deadly/lethal force in more situations than a police officer is. Which makes sense, when you look at it.
Another comment - we may have Democrats in Texas, but even our Democrats here are adults for the most part. It's the Texas RCF - Reality Correction Field.
If a person comes into your house to rob you. First you have to tell him to leave, then you have to attempt to get away from him by running out of your house before you can use deadly force and even then you have to warn the invader that you are preparing to use deadly force.
well, if little ole ladies in NO can do with their pistols and garbage cans then the Big Ole Texans should scare the hell out of the looters.
In addition, the definition of "the militia" meaning "all law abiding citizens willing and able to carry arms" is alive and well in Texas.
If the police and National Guard can't get the job done, the citizens will take a swing at it. And if we don't succeed (highly unlikely, there's a LOT more of us than anything else), whatever it is will certainly know it'd been in a fight.
A "rag-tag" militia of Texans is the worst thing in the world to have attack you. Just ask Santa Anna.
