Extremely dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Rita continues to threaten the Greater Houston Metropolitan area. The forecast track has shifted slightly to the northeast, increasing the risk to Southwest Louisiana, and a significant portion of the oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Texas Governor Perry is urging all coastal residents between Beaumont and Corpus Christi to evacuate as soon as possible.

are we seeing the trough that was pushing Rita south collasping faster than expected?
Will pray for you as well.

Hmmm..there was not trough pushing Rita southwards, if there was, it would be pulling it Northwards.
Basically a subtle difference in the orientation of the ridging to the N.
I am not sure Mrs. L,TOWM would appreciate me experimenting with her mini-van in this manner.
Now where did you get this info? I'm so tired I'm unable to even think. Much less find that info.
Please put your location in your tag line and also sign in on the Freeper Check In thread. Thanks and good luck.
Truth,
I did the same last night but have decided to stay. I might change my mind once we get the 10:00 AM NHC report. If it is still moving east then I definitely will be staying. If it moves back our way then I think we need to make some more decisions.
Are you having trouble with the sound from that station? It keeps going in and out. I have it on the extra monitor which is really nice. I have it full screen.

I HAVE WITHDRAWN THIS SUGGESTION. IF YOU NEEDED TO READ IT TO DO IT, YOU SHOULDN'T CONSIDER IT.
Sorry. Brainstorming delivers both good and bad ideas.
From what I have seen, it is nowhere near NO.
no problem here...
A very timely study...I was saying OMG, and WOW to most of the slides. Highly recommend this PowerPoint slideshow. Yowser.
That's what I've been thinking for hours now...will weaken before that..then steam up. I guess a lot depends now on the water temps- I heard on TWC it's in "cooler" water now..but before landfall it will run back into warmer..I can't keep up.
Good idea. You might consider asking the moderator to remove the post.
It's garbage. Some of the media, and a great deal of people, are attempting to wishcast the storm to NOLA.
Is that like a "crazy Ivan"?..j/k
