1 Thessalonians 1: 2-3
We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We thank You for another day, filled with Your blessings. Even when our lives are turbulent, we always have the solid rock of Your love and mercy as our foundation. We are grateful that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever -- a Bulwark never failing. Hear our praise, O Lord, and guide us through each day that we might live according to Your will, bringing glory to Your Name.
Father, we pray without ceasing for our President, a man who carries tremendous burdens and who is attacked from many quarters. Many in our own nation will not rally around this President even when our nation is endangered but instead wallow in hatred and vitriol, caring more about bringing this man down than striving to strengthen our country. Lord, we ask that You continue to sustain George W. Bush, keeping him in Your peace. Let him endure and lead our nation through troubled times, inspired by his hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. Comfort him and grant him wisdom and courage, increasing his faith in You, the Almighty, as You work in his life. Bless Laura and the twins, drawing them closer to You each day. Watch over all the First Family and protect them from all harm.
Lord, we continue in amazement at the stories we hear of the work that our military is doing as they fight for freedom in lands such as Afghanistan and Iraq. Their bravery and their compassion is unsurpassed. Their help aiding those whose lives were devastated by Hurricane Katrina has been exemplary and we are grateful for their work. Yet again they are being put on alert to assist as Rita bears down on the Gulf Coast. Lord, give them the strength to carry out these tasks set before them. And let our citizens support them and show their approval of the sacrifice that our military makes to protect and defend us.
We ask for Your protection for those in the path of Rita even as we continue in prayer for those whose lives were torn asunder by Katrina as well as those who have reached out to help the victims of this disaster.
Lord, even as our nation is in danger both from terrorists and from natural calamaties, we find that there are some who resort to finger-pointing and blaming and attempts to pit one group against another. We know that such division comes from The Evil One; yet we know that You have already won the victory over satan through the sacrifice of Your own precious Son. Help us to focus on Your victory and to work to bring about the evidence of Your kingdom on earth. Revive us, O Lord, and heal our land, cleansing us of the diseases of hatred and enmity and greed that we may once again be that shining city on a hill, a beacon of hope to all the world. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
AMEN KAYAK!
"I will rejoice over them to do them good."
- Jeremiah 32:41
How heart-cheering to the believer is the delight which God has in his
saints! We cannot see any reason in ourselves why the Lord should take
pleasure in us; we cannot take delight in ourselves, for we often have to
groan, being burdened; conscious of our sinfulness, and deploring our
unfaithfulness; and we fear that God's people cannot take much delight in
us, for they must perceive so much of our imperfections and our follies,
that they may rather lament our infirmities than admire our graces. But we
love to dwell upon this transcendent truth, this glorious mystery: that as
the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so does the Lord rejoice over us.
We do not read anywhere that God delighteth in the cloud-capped mountains,
or the sparkling stars, but we do read that he delighteth in the habitable
parts of the earth, and that his delights are with the sons of men. We do
not find it written that even angels give his soul delight; nor doth he
say, concerning cherubim and seraphim, "Thou shalt be called Hephzibah,
for the Lord delighteth in thee"; but he does say all that to poor fallen
creatures like ourselves, debased and depraved by sin, but saved, exalted,
and glorified by his grace.
In what strong language he expresses his delight in his people! Who could
have conceived of the eternal One as bursting forth into a song? Yet it is
written, "He will rejoice over thee with joy, he will rest in his love, he
will joy over thee with singing.
" As he looked upon the world he had made, he said, "It is very good"; but
when he beheld those who are the purchase of Jesus' blood, his own chosen
ones, it seemed as if the great heart of the Infinite could restrain
itself no longer, but overflowed in divine exclamations of joy.
Should not we utter our grateful response to such a marvellous
declaration of his love, and sing, "I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy
in the God of my salvation?"

We pray, dear Jesus, protect the citizens in the path of hurricane Rita. St. Michael, may you cover the innocent, have mercy on those who do not know our Savior, instill within them a deep desire to know that Your love for them is eternal. In the precious name of Jesus we pray
Heavenly Father, bless this great man and bless our country. Bless all who come her to pray.
Praying this promise for our President, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Thank you, kayak.
May God continue to Bless our President, our Troops, our Country and may those who seek comfort after the effects of Katrina find comfort in HIS words, and may HE look after those who are facing Rita in the hours and days to come.
