But Reagan is still the gold standard for a Republican President in the same way Jesus is a model for Christians.

He is the gold standard in what he said.

Reagan nominated Sandra Day O'Connor and Anthony Kennedy to the Supreme Court, neither of which have been reliable conservative votes.

Reagan did absolutely nothing in the pro-life area. Oh, he talked a good game, but he never proposed, or did, anything. Bush signed the PBA ban, and instituted a sensible embryonic stem cell policy.

Reagan cut taxes, but then raised taxes in 1982, when Democrats proposed a sham "we'll cut two dollars in spending for every dollar in tax cuts." He got snookered. Bush has never raised taxes, and has never even come close to raising taxes.

Reagan cut and run when 241 Marines were killed in Lebanon. Bush attacked Afghanistan and defeated the Taliban when America was attacked on 9/11.

Make no mistake. Ronald Reagan was a great president. He gave us hope after the miserable Carter years, and laid the groundwork for the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

But he didn't come close to actually doing as much as George W. Bush has.

I wonder where Ms. Coulter places Justice O'Connor on her list of Reagan's greatest accomplishments..

Ann's already written on that. It's titled Reagan's biggest mistake!

Interesting human dynamic, for all their bluster against the left and their media, some here cannot resist jumping on their bandwagon.

LOL, thank god they are not in my foxhole, when the going gets rough the right jumps ship!

Hilarious.

I certainly don't grant Reagan sainthood. I detested his wife and his poof son Ronnie. If Bush "Jr." --now does that make you happy--is conservative, he's got me fooled. Has he vetoed any spending bills? Has he cracked down on illegal immigration? Has he put a lot of political cronies in jobs where they were in over their heads-- and I'm not talking Brown here. Has he stood up to his critics? Has he given us a press secretary who is not just a MSM punching bag? Has he said we will pay for hurricane relief by cutting foolish pork barrel spending? Has he faced down Dingy Harry Reid and the DUmmycrats by giving us a tried and true SCOTUS nominee? Has he pointed out that Islam is not a religion of peace, or has he continued to invite jerks from CAIR into the White House for touchy-feely sessions? If that's conservatism, I'm not with the program regardless of what the guy "Southhack" has to say.

I'm skeptical about those Widepedia life spans. It wouldn't surprise me if they included things like infant mortality, childhood disease deaths, and mothers in childbirth deaths in that average of 49. I'll have to Google to verify, though.

Remembering that the Constitution doesn't allow for the office of president to be held before age 35, think I'm remembering right.

Sorry folks. I had high hopes of a Reaganesque conservative in W, but that is simply not the case.

How was Ronald Reagan conservative? Raised taxes, cut and run in Lebanon, did nothing for pro-lifers, ran up a huge deficit, and granted a huge amnesty to illegal aliens.

Other than facing down Gorbachev, I can't see where Reagan was anywhere close to Bush in terms of conservatism.

Boy that's for sure.

I've never seen a more gullible bunch, roses. They fall for the leftist line every time!

Good thing most of us are smarter than that, and know a good thing..........that would be a GOOD MAN...........when we see one.

Funny thing is, these blusterers will most likely be talking about how wonderful and conservative W was in about 20 years, just like they're saying about Reagan now.

Short, short memories, I guess....

I respect Bush and fought hard both times to have him elected. However, he has been a dissapointment lately as has the entire Republican party . They are acting like loosers and havent stood up to the maniac Dems as they should have. I get the feeling they are getting lazy ..BIG MISTAKE.

Reagan was brilliant in his rhetoric.

Your article confirms what I said: Reagan didn't actually do anything for the pro-life movement. Bush has, in spades.

How exactly did you 'fight' to elect him, newbie?

And have you ever considered that the best way to deal with insanity and 'loosers' is to ignore them, and act the right way yourself?

I mean, seriously.........Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Howard Dean, et al, are making absolute fools of themselves.

Why interfere with that?

Bush got everything he wanted in his first term. Everything, except a couple of judges. He also defied tradition and increased the number of seats in both houses of Congress in 2002, and 2004.

He's on the ropes now, for what, I don't know. But you are simply not going to get a Ron Paul conservative elected to national office in the United States.

Ever.

Laugh!
It's either very funny or deadly serious.
If the voting majority is flagrantly ignored, imagine what happens when "we" give up and join forces with the non-voting minority who gave up on this system of government.

I love Ann, but as I said on another thread, I think Reagan has been made into something he was not. He compromised, and made the right angry all of the time. Listen, you have to be President of all the nation or you are a Bill Clinton.
