Breaking: Jet Blue emergency landing, Long Beach, CA (UPDATE: Plane Landed Safely)

A Jet Blue aircraft just did a low altitude flyby of Long Beach airport after reporting some concern with their forward gear. The television helicopter caught an image of it - the gear is turned sideways and tilted.
Aircraft is heading out towards the ocean to drop fuel, will turn around, and attempt a 'soft field' landing, keeping the nose up as long as possible.

Ok, but if the nose gear is twisted or angled as they say, couldn't this send the aircraft into a spin when the nose does touch the ground? More likely just snap the nose gear right off.

Jet Blue used to fly out only from Long Beach, but I think they added Burbank not too long ago, so they now fly out of both.

I'd say the "soft" refers to the foam and not the landing. I am guessing the foam helps stop fire, but I have to believe it is not a cushion.

This has happened before the rear landing gear will be used and the nose will gradually balance out.
The likelyhood of success if extremely high for this to be non stop breaking news is over the top. I wouldn't want to be on the plane but it will land fine.

And I just watched NGC 'Second from disaster' over the weekend and they showed the Kansas city crash.
At least this plane has hydraulic control.
