If you are in the path of this storm, please sign in here, so that the rest of us can keep track of our "displaced" friends and family.
And when you return, remember to sign in, as we will be looking for you!
I goofed by just sending my thoughts to you. I should have included those who have good ping lists. I'm sure they would agree with me.
Believe me, you really are going the extra mile.
Oh gosh! Sure sorry to hear that.
Richmond on the Brazos, ridem cowboy staying put.
I'm here in Katy, Tx and my husband and I are staying. I am a native Houstonian so I have family throughout the area. Many live near the Galveston and Clear Lake area so they are moving to higher ground.
I will try to check in during the storm. We have 2 lap tops and have charged the batteries.
Thank you, Howlin!
You can add me too.
Are you prone to flooding?
I'm at Memorial & Jackson Hill and I have never flooded.
I just got to Sugar Land from Galveston. Man, what a day.
This is where I'll ride out Rita.
How bad was it?
I'm riding it out [we're on some high ground]. Spent the afternoon picking up "launchable" items around the yard and securing them in or around the shed.
My parents live in Sheridan, TX and I'm still waiting to hear back from them regarding their plans. I'm hoping they'll come here to Tennessee to stay with me.
My brother lives in Houston, near HWY 59 and W. Bellfort where he owns a home. Not sure what his plans are -- he works a lot and is hard to get hold of. He's an commercial electrician for the big refineries -- they've been trying to talk him into moving to NOLA for 3 months to rebuild a damaged refinery there.
I am in the Cypress area. I have been here most of my life. I was here during Alicia and had a lot of tree damage.
Being a Cat 5 and having 4 children with 1 on the way, we will probably be leaving early tomorrow morning for Boerne. I don't know if our house can take 110 mph winds and I am not going to find out.
If the path changes overnight we might stay.
We went to Wal Mart today and got $350 worth of groceries. I waited in line 2 hours for water and luckily got some. Some people were waiting for 4 hours for water. I went to 3 gas stations for gas without luck but finally found one. No propane tanks available and no ice.
Pray that Houston/Galveston will not get hit. Major population base and even Wall Street understands if we get hit, it will kill our economy. Houston is a major hub for our economy and the energy capital of the world.
From watching the news, the roads are bumper to bumper. Glad you are here.
I am here in Corpus Christi in the far Northwest side of town. We'll be heading to San Angelo or Amarillo.
Still here..We have had problems with my daughter getting important prescriptions...Fed Ex is closing down. She has a chronic illness,My SIL comes in tomorrow morning...and it looks like we are going to end up in a heck of a last minute rush out of town when we do go..
I need a nap!
Thanks Sis. It cleared up once I ot past I 10 and onto 59 South. Then it was smooth saling home.
610 was pretty congested heading North.
From the live thread -- Link
I have finally made it to Sugar Land from Galveston. That normally takes a little over an hour. Today it took four and a half hours.
Houston area FReepers... I-45 is a parking lot. HWY 6?, forget it. Even Beltway 8 was first gear only.
Good news: All tollways and HOV lanes are free for general use with no fee.
The Galveston bridge will be flipped to all lanes outbound tonight at six, same time the mandatory evacuation begins.
The Bolivar ferry has stopped service until further notice.
... where's that beer...
That puts us on the "bad" side of the storm. Not liking this at all - no not at all.
You're added! Thanks.
Hi Spiff. Hubby says he is staying, andvI will not leave him.
We are in West Houston off Hwy 6 and Bellaire area.
