I agree. Freeper Honorary Award of some kind.
You're just so awesomely noble.
So far it looks like Matagorda Bay.
Oh these poor people... 1,000s and 1,000s of cars backed up trying to get into Houston out of Galveston. Some have ran out of gas, some have broken down and some have caused fender-benders.
Meekie, can you lend your TX ping list here?
Spiff, you can add me over by OC Steve. I'm right underneath the "C:where the green fields and the grey civilization meet.
stay safe, girl..
Gull. I'm a gull. I just post like a really mean guy......LOL.
And I don't do any more than anybody else.
Like I said on the other thread, I may beat their brains out on other threads, but this is different. They're all "our people," aren't they? :-)
Conroe Here
No, I am not; but FR has been good to me when I needed help in the past.
But thanks for the kind words.
Please add my sister, Alexis the Bengal Kitty to the Houston ping list.
She's just left the Port and is headed home. Traffic is bumper to bumper on I-10.
I'm in the Katy area, although still in Ft. Bend County. That's a marginally better location than Sugar Land. It might knock off 5 mph on the sustained winds.
I just want to stay out of the eyewall. I think anyplace south of Brenham that gets the eyewall winds will have catastrophic destruction. We build very few homes around here that will take 120 mph winds for any length of time, and if Rita comes ashore as a strong Cat 4 at Matagorda Bay, it would still be in excess of 120 at Sugar Land or Katy.

I "hope" I have not overlooked anybody. If so, please add your name. Howlin will alphabetize the list soon.
CAT 5 --- this is a monster. I am stunned looking at the pics on Fox -- Rita consumes almost the whole of the Gulf!
I wish they'd quit saying that. That's almost directly south of my home.
Beautiful Spiff! Thanks so much.
P.S. More FReepers have been added to the list. *smile*
I am just enthralled with Spiff's maps!
I am worried about you and all of our Texas FRiends --- having just gone thru an outer band which knocked out power for 5 days, I am just stunned looking at Rita.
MONSTER does not begin to describe her.
Me too, and you know how we both LOVE maps! We (or you..lol) will have to learn from Spiff how to post those maps.
Also, GOOD IDEA of yours ---
Texas FReepers need to exchange cell numbers --- it's a lifeline to the outside world.
My brother is in Richmond...
Minor correction to my family shown on the map.
My sister is Hwy 6 @ Bellaire.
My son is Fountainview @ Westheimer.
No daughters anywhere...even though I always wanted one.
