"Nominating Marc Levin would soften up the opposition. His barbs at the "honorable" Senators would be sweet!"

I had the same thoughts about Pat Robertson.

that would be a REAL blast!!!

I'm afraid I do. But more importantly, it's the appearance that he is a moderate that matters in terms of Bush's future pick in terms of the spin game. And I submit that up votes from Specter and Leahy support that.

Consuela would be a woman; I think Consuelo is a man.

...and the voting by Specter and Leahy means nothing after all Scalia had 90+ votes...

Actually, I'm talking about the votes that matter. That is, the ones from the Senate Judiciary Committee. The 96 votes Scalia got were after the committee vote, and the reason they were so high is because the Senate unites to support the committee recomendation. Somewhat of a tradition.

So I guess the Slimes believes the O'Connor slot is now a spot reserved for females only?

I suspect it's going to be. This next confirmation is going to be the most bruising since Clarence Thomas, and the people in the White House probably feel it'll be a little more difficult for the Dems to beat on a woman than a man. There'd be more public sympathy for a woman getting cruelly mauled than otherwise, and the Dems know that.

No Consuelo Callahan is a woman, former state court judge now sitting on a 9th Circuit.

I would love to see Mark refer to the senators as "honorable" while doing that finger quotation mark thing! LOL

That tradition has been thrown out the window by the RATS along with others such as decency, honor, love of country, truthfulness and common sense.
