Why not use the list that Sheila Jackson Lee drafted?

"We go to the Greek alphabet"

Agamemnon, Bellerophon, Gorgon, Dionysus...

Names from Greek myth reflect the terrible, destructive power of hurricanes.

Doesn't anyone at this organization know about the proper rules of grammar concerning titles, etc? And the media wonders why it's losing creditbility. It's just another nail in the coffin.

How about this: Name all hurricanes after me, but add a number at the end. Lazamataz I, Lazamataz II, Lazamataz III, and so on...

How is a hurricane like getting married to a woman?

They start out hot and wet and when it's over somebody loses a house.

But seriously, folks....sorry to hear that the feministas had any sort of influence over a scientific body.

suggested that global warming may be causing increases in hurricane intensity and frequency. Many scientists are skeptical

Although not a scientist, Graybeard is skeptical too.

Military weather forecasters began giving women's names to significant storms during WWII

Story goes, they would name them after their sweeties back home. It would be a way of sending a cryptic message to teh homefront.

Let's hope we don't get a Hurricane Omega. Of course when Hillary is elected we won't have any more hurricanes, because she'll end global warming.

I don't understand September 13 being San Felipe...there must be an obscure St. Philip on that day (St. Philip the Apostle is in May).

I don't remember which day Rita first reached land...if it was the 19th it would be San Januario, if the 20th San Eustaquio. I think the present system is easier, now that we can follow hurricanes before they reach land.

Personally I think they ought to name them after the congresscritters running for re-election that year (alphabetically by state or by district). It'd be fun to watch them squirm when their name came up.

"We go to the Greek alphabet," said Frank Lepore, spokesman for the National Hurricane Center.

Racists... how about the urban alphabet? Antwan, Beyonce, Carletta, De(insert your favorite name here), Ebony, Felopian,... The list is endless!

Our local weather guy remarked this morning that if we get well into the Greek alphabet it's going to sound like a fraternity party . . .

Why not the old Alpha Bravo Charlie Delta Echo Foxtrot?
