My wife is needed at the hospital where she works. I could take the pets and leave her, but how could I live with myself? Depending on which part of the Gulf you measure to (since it's curved) I'm about 60 miles from landfall. It'll knock it down a category, maybe a bit more, when it arrives.
Great. I just got a call from my wife at the hospital. One of her co-workers who is evacuating wants to know if I can take care of their dog.
Oh man.
Better idea. Have her take YOURS. That way you can help your wife out at the hospital 'cause it will be all hands on deck following the storm.

I think your wife would want you and your pets to be safe. I know I would. I think you should leave.
Man just get out of their.. Call your wife, ask her what she needs packed because you are coming by to get her. If the job makes her stay, then its not worth it... What is more important family or a job? I am sure she will not have trouble finding a job later.. Now go call her...

Anyway, LaM...TC and League City are under mandatory evac.
I think the mandatory evac areas should be expanded since this storm has intensified...
If the hospital is staying open you could stay there with her, instead of at your home. Volunteers are always needed.
We're about 100 miles from landfall. You can come here but only if you leave the pets at your house, LOL!
I have been reading up on the history of Camille and almost hate to post one of the items from this '61 storm of similar size and impact...but it needs to be said.
Camille had a whole flock of tornados crossing all the Texas area inland from the coast that accompanied it whole storm width. That occuring while the storm passes with them popping up in numbers to large for any ample warning, all need to get in very secure buildings and shelters as even if they are far from the Gulf itself, and on high ground from storm serge, AND off the direct path of the eye, this is an important issue. I read one account of over 75 spawned as Camille came through.
I hope that I am an alarmist, but I hate to research without reporting.
If you can ship the dogs over here, I can take care of them. (Or, is it to late?)
Maybe she couldn't live with you being home while she's in a safer building...
If it were me, I'd leave with the pets and go somewhere safe. It'll be peace of mind for your wife and her coworker that you're somewhere safe.
