the dirty little secret the LIBERAL MEDIA wont tell you is that the reason there are so many poor in New Orleans is because of FAILED LIBERAL ENTITLEMENT AND WELFARE PROGRAMS, that keep the blacks poor and downtrodden. Who runs New Orleans- a black liberal DIMocratic mayor. The state-a white LIBERAL DIMocratic governor. In the Senate? A white LIBERAL DIMocratic woman. For over forty years the LIBERALS have had their way in New Orleans and Louisiana. It all adds up folks. But shhh, its a dirty little secret', and you're not supposed to know about it.
I already knew and I agree 100%.
Clinton years added to the problem.
This is America. If you sit around and do not make something of yourself it is your fault, NOT the Government's.
FAILED LIBERAL ENTITLEMENT AND WELFARE PROGRAMS, that keep the blacks poor and downtrodden.
------
From a political viewpoint, they have NOT failed. The libs continue, with their "keep 'em on the plantation" strategy, to be successful at keeping the majority of the black vote. And the libs love it. As long as this country allows welfare to be a WAY OF LIFE, nothing will change.
Maybe the people who escaped to a better place will use this opportunity as their ticket out of that hell hole called New Orleans...and maybe that is why the devils Nagin and Blanco want them back so badly...to control them.

The RATS truly fear that many NO residents will not return and the loss of their votes could swing power to the GOP.
When the government TRAINS people to not do anything for themselves, then why would anyone be surprised at their lack of initiative? The classic is the response of the guy rescued off his roof when asked why he didn't evacuate. He said, "I was waiting for you to come and get me."
We made it to 6 message before someone used "plantation".
Each "parish" seems to have a President and/or some leadership committee correct? How are paid or elected? What is their role in this whole issue? Do they report to the Mayor, on advisory committee's, etc.
Neither Bush has done much to end the War on Poverty. We need real reform. Stop illegal immigration so those on welfare have a job to go to. Stop paying americans to get fat and then start another program to keep them from growing fat.
They've created a totally dependent underclass that is completely incapable of taking care of itself. When the umbilical cord of government support is cut, they founder and die. That's the real tragedy of Katrina.
If the Government rewards you for sitting around and punishes you for making something of yourself, then sure it is.

...because it is totally applicable to the Dem strategy. Beyond that, you can have the PC trash.
In a way, the president is right about illegal immigration, but he is doing it wrong. Set up a guest worker program with good screening of applicants for medical and criminal histories and possible terrorist activities. Then offer the ones who have LEGALLY been working in the US for say 5 years expidited citizenship. I would quickly trade 20 lazy welfare bums for one hardworking Mexican new American any day.

AMEN!
Make sure no one goes hungry, also make sure they work for their own keep. I am 70 years old, have had my own business from age 21. I did it all by myself. I was raised in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, a lot of times I worked very hard. I don't want to see my children work to give entitlements to people that don't want a job. And yes, there is a job out there for every one that wants a job.
Just the term "entitlements" should piss off everyone who hass to deal with the difference between gross &takehome pay. Welfare was bad enough. I'd like to see it go back to "releif" and be a temporary thing, not a lifetime lifestyle.
