NEW ORLEANS - After backing off on his call for some residents to return to New Orleans, the city's mayor ripped into the top U.S. government relief official on Tuesday, underscoring the rising tension between city and federal authorities over who has the final say after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina....
The call for another evacuation ahead of a new tropical storm came after repeated warnings from top federal officials — including President Bush himself — that New Orleans was not safe enough to reopen. Federal officials warned that Tropical Storm Rita could breach the city’s weakened levees and swamp the city all over again.

Not to mention Coleman Young, who ran Detroit like a Banana Republic for, what, 32 years? When he started his tenure Detroit was a top-5 city, and when it ended it was under 1 million residents.
That's ok, if Rita swamps the city, they can just fire Allen too and get another sacrificial lamb in there.

Yup. They can't even acquire busses on their own, somebody has to give them to them. Galveston has 80 busses of their own, and if that's not enough, we're going to send them some from Houston.
It would be hard to feel pity for them now, wouldn't it? Besides, there's no one there, and it's already a wreck. I'm rooting for it to hit the King Ranch. The King Ranch is big enough to swallow up a hurricane. Sorry about the loss of cattle, but it would be better than Houston and Galveston getting wrecked.

Where does his side money come from? It just seems odd that they can get the prostitutes back in No already, they are going to get the bars back quickly. What does this say about NO anyways?
