Cold as it might sound, the truth here is 'those are the breaks.' I'm sorry that she's had a rotten time of it, I'm especially sorry that her sister decided to do that to her, and I pray for her, but the reality television business has specific needs. Those needs can range from having contestants fly around the world, run a race, or in this case having plastic surgery done in a short enough time for the program.
It couldn't happen safely, so the producers rightly pulled the plug on the episode.
I would much rather have had ABC take the moral high road in this and follow through in paying for the surgeries, especially since it was such a close thing. They probably could have made back the cost through press promotions about the woman who didn't make the show, but still was made over.
Would have made a nice tie in to Oprah or something of the like.
But they're not obligated to do so. As to what will happen in the courts? If this gets before a jury, big reward to the woman against ABC which then wins an appeal. PR nightmare.. Poor choice, guys.

Depends on if she was misguided into thinking it was a go deal and they opted out.
I think she should get the defect such as the chin done but the boob job does not seem JMO like a have to have feature.
The pic is small but the obvious lack of jawline is very visible.
She has to change her heart but having a somewhat avg. jaw would be a positive thing to do.
I am thinking like fixing a birth defect.
Perhaps she could sign up for Amy Grants reality program Make a Wish.
It is not easy living with obvious facial structural defects.
I wouldn't go so far as to say turn her into a beauty but if I am sensing her desire is to fix some severe facial defects.
Now her sister committing suicide is a whole other issue. May have happened for another reason later on, the sister committing suicide that is.

Looking a her arm in the pic seems she is long boned and slim so she may have a nice Ann Coulter bone structure below the chin.
She's lucky.

"It's a true, honest-to-God doctor-patient relationship," he said. He added that he does not remember working with Williams specifically. AH! The Hollywood definition of "relationship," I see.

If her story is true she was treated very coldly, like a sack of disposable garbage, by this show. I find her story credible except for trying to blame her doped up sister's death on ABC

Once it goes to court, it all depends on the contract. Business is business.
But being that ABC is in the PR business, I agree, they should have gone ahead with it after leading this woman on up until the eve of the surgery. Dumb move.
Oh, and a TV producer manipulating someone? Naw! ya think?

From the article:
strained her relationships with loved ones and prompted the suicide of her sister, Kellie McGee.
On May 25, 2004, McGee overdosed on prescription drugs and alcohol, the lawsuit states.
I am going to go out on a limb here but..ahhh..there is a "slight" chance the sister was combining booze and meds long before any contact with this um.."reality show".

Williams was told it would take too much time to fix her malformed jaw.
** I wish they figured that out before encouraging bitter family exchanges.

Wacky sister was probably suicidal long before the show. ABC doesn't have responsibility for the death or any family dispute.
Many surgeries are called off at the last minute for a multiple of reasons out in the real world. This is no different. This is elective surgery, not life threatening. I'm sure she's not the first contestant who has been given the boot and won't be the last. That's the chance she took. Any bets the family or sister sent in her application? ABC, just from this article, shouldn't be liable for anything.
