A Falls Church man charged with conspiring with al Qaeda to kill President Bush told Saudi interrogators that he dreamed up the plot on his own but that it never got past the "idea stage," prosecutors say in court documents unsealed yesterday.
Abu Ali, 24, also said during the same interrogation that he "wanted to be in al Qaeda so bad that I decided to go to Afghanistan for jihad." He said he was unable to get a visa to travel there but did join an al Qaeda cell in Saudi Arabia.
Abu Ali is charged in U.S. District Court in Alexandria with conspiracy to kill Bush and other terrorism counts. Prosecutors say he has admitted to plotting with al Qaeda to conduct a Sept. 11-style terrorist attack in the United States.

Ahmed Omar Abu Ali of Virginia. (By William J. Hennessy Jr. For The Washington Post)
Cindy Sheehan and Mary Landrieu are deeply saddened that he was caught.
Well, the lefties will certainly excuse this. The mean old Americans would not let him go to anywhere but Saudi Arabia. Just another minuteman.NOT
Too bad he can't be sentenced to death.
What a friggin loser!
We should let more of these dinks into the country.
Sheesh.
p.s. If he was born here I hope his parents are very proud of the fine job they've done raising a real hero.
Jeez. What a loser.
maybe the aclu will defend him?
Death is much too merciful for this type.
I have to disagree. It's death's finality that appeals to me. Would keep this dangerous cretin off the streets forever.
we don't allow torture sadly...and in prison, he will be embraced by nation of islam as a hero
I suspect the Saudis will "disappear" him. Lotsa desert there, don'tcha know?
Nation of Islam will cover any black in trouble in the joint if he joins.
And some Federal joints have other true Islamic groups who will do likewise.
I guess this is the dream of young Muslim losers all over the world.
The Muslim religion is such a cruel prison for the human mind to exist within.
One Muslim, who can rely, according to the Koran, on the right to lie like a dog for his cause, against another of the same.
To quote the great Bill Murray in "What About Bob": "HA!"
True enough that we the people do not allow torture. My life experience contradicts some of the media-fueled perspective. This POS may be granted some level of support for a very brief period of time. Once the "gloss" wears off, he will be discarded quickly. Our social compassion will provide his carcass with the proper medication, and some government funded social scientist will compose a truly heartwrenching dissertation. Absent the hue and cry of popular support, this numbnuts is in for an extremely harsh introduction to reality. Ask anyone that has extended or close family that has been incarcerated for any extended period of time.

"Two doctors who examined Abu Ali found evidence that he was tortured in Saudi Arabia, including scars on his back consistent with having been whipped, defense attorneys have said in court papers."
Unless the prosecution can get doctors to say otherwise, or someone can prove the torture predated the Saudi interment, the case looks to be toast.
Ladies and gentlemen: your next Democratic candidate for the U.S. Congress, from the great state of Virginia.
So Afghanistan has better immigration control than we do?
Morning PR,
That POS should not even be breathing at this time. I would say he is screechan's and punchy landrieu's poster boy of the year.
The USA needs to turn the screws on Saudi Arabia, by increasing the price 100 times on the products they purchase from America.
I have to presume someone is afraid we might offend the musklambs and their religion of piss.
I'll Take My Stand,
