(V) Hurricane Rita Question
09-19-05 | Tall_Texan

Posted on 09/19/2005 10:44:25 AM PDT by Tall_Texan

Since President Bush has now cited Tropical Storm (soon to be Hurricane) Rita as a reason why citizens of New Orleans should not be allowed back into the city yet and...

Since loony libs think Bush and Karl Rove have some sort of weather machine that steered Hurricane Katrina into Louisiana to kill all the black people...

Shouldn't we test this theory? If Rita hits Louisiana, it means Bush and Rove can control the weather and steered another hurricane into Louisiana to kill the rest of the black people.

But if Rita hits somewhere else, then either Bush and Rove thought they could kill more black people by slamming a hurricane into Houston or Bush and Rove cannot control the weather.

Then again, if the purpose of hurricanes is to kill black people, shouldn't Bush be saying that blacks are *welcome* back into New Orleans ahead of Rita but the white people should stay out?

Rita is one of them Caucasian hurricanes. If only we all listened to Sheila Jackson-Lee and named these hurricanes in the African-American fashion, then right now hurricane Ro'Quisha would be targeting an all-white enclave somewhere, leaving the poor minorities unscathed.

Maybe all those doom-and-gloomers were right- this is God's punishment on the city of New Orleans. He will track them down no matter where they go.

Katrina should have been named LaTrina, because it certainly turned parts of New Orleans in a latrine.

I think if I was one of the evacuees in Rita's path, I would start to examine my life up till now.

this is God's punishment on the city of New Orleans.

I'm thinking Jerry Falwell forwarded to God a copy of "Girls Gone Wild" and now He is wiping out all the popular spring break destinations. He took out the Florida beaches last year. Now he's hammered New Orleans and (again) Pensacola. By this theory, Rita ought to move through South Padre Island - appropriate since a "rita" in that area is shorthand for an alcoholic beverage.

Which reminds me, if a bartender mixed a hurricane with a margarita, wouldn't that be a "Hurricane Rita"?

Wouldn't that depend on which way she's spinning?

Ironically, there was a Tropical Storm Lee that was alot like Sheila Jackson Lee, a load of wind and water that nobody paid attention to.

It's called The Ice Princess and it was invented by the Cassadines on General Hospital. C'mon, my shift at Digital got over before 3 pm.

No, it would depend on what part of the world she was in. If Rita was in the Atlantic, she would be a hurricane. Eastern Pacific , it would be a typhoon. If she were in the Southern Pacific or Indian Ocean, she would be a Cyclone.

This forecast shows landfall just below Galveston Island.

There is a nuclear plant near Freeport, TX.

Also to be taken into consideration. Houston is inland and above sea-level. Any flooding in Houston would drain nicely after the storm passes and with low tide.

Galveston Island has seen a jump in development lately, presuming the legalization of gambling. Lots of casino-looking buildings have been built on the Seawall.

The damage from a hurricane, of course, would hurt Galveston Island and Bolivar the worst.

And if it is a large hurricane, the Mainland would get flooded. Consider all of the residential building which has spring up in the Kemah, Clear Lake City area, which has never been tested before by a hurricane.

Further down the Texas Gulf Coast from Galveston Island is Port Lavaca, which took a direct hit by Hurrican Carla in 1959.

Someone should track the paths of Mayor Nagin and Jim Cantore. It will hit where the paths of those two hurricane magnets cross.
