In response to a decision by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals made on July 15, 2005 (joined by Judge John Roberts) which upheld the constitutionality of the military tribunals, terrorist Salim Hamdan has filed a plea motion to the US Supreme Court to reconsider this case and overturn the previous ruling. This petition was filed August 8, 2005 in the case entitled Hamdan vs Rumsfeld.
David Remes
Joining the terrorist in his petition as amici curiae (friendly briefs) are a host of interesting anti-American characters. Chief among them is David H. Remes, a staunch anti-pledge of allegiance attorney and frequent crusader for liberal causes. According to the website www.undergodprocon.org which compiles a list of pro and anti-pledge interests, David Remes represented Edward Myers in the 4th Circuit case to strike down a Virginia law the required daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools. Remes also represented Americans United for Separation of Church and State and American Civil Liberties Union as amici in Elk Grove Unified Sch. Dist. vs Newdow.
The profile of Remes compiled on this website is available here:

IN addition to his work against the pledge of allegiance, Remes is also a major contributor to John Kerry:

This time, in the amicus curiae on behalf of Hamdan, Remes is representing a group of disgruntled former Generals, JAGs and Admirals who, along with leftist organization "Human Rights First" recently issued a press release calling for more investigation into alleged abuses at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo. ************************************************* In addition to Remes, other groups joining Hamdan in his case against the United States are: * Deborah N. Pearlstein of Human Rights First and former law clerk to Justice John Paul Stevens
* Northwestern Law Professor Bridget Arimond representing the "Center for International Human Rights"
* Claude B. Stansbury, representing "304 United Kingdom and European Parliamentarians"
* James J. Benjamin Jr. representing Association of the Bar of the City of New York |
The First Amendment deals with the press...NOT with citizens and most assuredly NOT about spurious lawsuits.

Soon to be "the Usual Leftist Suspects."
Good work by someone.
This piece of pschitt should now have to deal with pickets and bullhorns outside his home. He should have to de-list his phone number. etcetera.
good find, this tread should be keep alive.
The answer is what Michael Medved has been suggesting. Make the loses of these lawsuits pay all court costs.
Dang!
That's how it's done in England and I agree. That would stop most of these ridiculous lawsuits!
