~ MILITARY SHORT SPEAK ~

Military Rank - Part 2
Officers Ranks

ArmyPatch small   NavySeal small   Air Force Seal   Marines Seal small   Coast Guard Seal small (better)

Today we're taking a side trip in the Short Speak journey to learn more about the different military ranks.  Hopefully you're not as confused about it as I am!

Officer ranks in the United States military consist of commissioned officers and warrant officers. The commissioned ranks are the highest in the military. These officers hold presidential commissions and are confirmed at their ranks by the Senate. Army, Air Force and Marine Corps officers are called company grade officers in the pay grades of O-1 to O-3, field grade officers in pay grades O-4 to O-6 and general officers in pay grades O-7 and higher. The equivalent officer groupings in the Navy are called junior grade, mid-grade and flag.

Warrant officers hold warrants from their service secretary and are specialists and experts in certain military technologies or capabilities. The lowest ranking warrant officers serve under a warrant, but they receive commissions from the president upon promotion to chief warrant officer 2. These commissioned warrant officers are direct representatives of the president of the United States. They derive their authority from the same source as commissioned officers but remain specialists, in contrast to commissioned officers, who are generalists. There are no warrant officers in the Air Force.

Naval officers wear distinctively different rank devices depending upon the uniform they're wearing. The three basic uniforms and rank devices used are: khakis, collar insignia pins; whites, stripes on shoulder boards; and blues, stripes sewn on the lower coat sleeves.

A note to my heroes

Regardless of what rank you are;
whether enlisted or officer;
Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine or Coast Guardsman;
Hear this:
I appreciate you and everything you have done for me from the
bottom of my heart.  You make me SO proud to be an American.
God bless you all!

If you have a suggestion for a Field Trip - maybe a place where YOU have been stationed and would like to re-visit - PLEASE Freepmail it to starcmc!!  Thanks!

Please remember: the Canteen is a place to honor and entertain our troops.
As such we attempt to keep it MOSTLY apolitical.
Thanks for playing and have a nice day!  LOL!!!

Good morning, Everyone. Good morning to our

Military, our Allies and their families.

Thank you, Star, for preparing the Canteen for today's activities. Gee, it's Monday and you know how I feel about Mondays?

And, this Monday started off with a little drama as soon as I got to work. NO NETWORK! Nada.......Zilch......

In order to keep myself from stressing the fact that I could not get to the Canteen, I did some paperwork.

And, now that I am here and I see so many posts already, I have only one thing to say

I've got to make a quick dash through the Canteen to see who's here, say howdy, move along to doing some more office work. For the next two weeks I must try to stay on the top of all the work and get stuff ready for October, the beginning of a new fiscal year. So, I'll be popping in and out.

Now, just incase we had some newbies show up while I was gone, this is for you

I'm off......... But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!

Now remember, the Canteen is

So, come on in and sit for a while. There's always plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM

DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

Good morning and (((HUGS))) GBU. I had a nice weekend. I was away in Chantilly, VA over the weekend doing a Outyear Planning meeting. So I was laid up in a fancy (to me anyway) hotel and eating good food in exchange for attending the meeting! I could get use to that kind of service!

How was your weekend?
