LONDON--Former President Bill Clinton described the devastation from Hurricane Katrina as "a positive thing for our country" on Saturday (9/17/05).
Speaking to the BBC Radio 4's Today program, Clinton said that the disaster could encourage Americans to view government involvement in their lives more positively, something the Democrats wanted.
"I think [Katrina] is likely to make us far more sensitive to ...to the importance of effective, good government after repeated decades of often voting for the party that condemned government," Clinton said.
"You know, we all hate government until we need it. So as a Democrat I think that is a positive thing for our country."
Clinton also expressed hope that the disaster would bring the races closer together.
"I think people were very sensitive to the fact that it disproportionately affected Americans of color, principally African Americans, and low income Americans," Clinton said. "So I think it is likely to make us far more sensitive to things that divide us, to fight them."
President Bush has appointed Clinton, along with his own father, former President Bush, a special envoy for New Orleans, and the surrounding area.

You just have to have the standard media mindset - Barbara Bush bad, Bill Clinton good.
To: RockinRight
The more I think about that scenario, the more I believe that the DNC would dump Hillary faster than we could believe if bill should die.
He is the proven winner, the man who built a very large machine, and the rainmaker who can undoubtedly raise enormous sums of cash for the Dems.
Nobody really cares about Hillary, except for a few fringe elements. - You will see his ugly pug more than Hillary's when the campaigning begins in earnest.
Take Bill out of the equation and she is toast.

Bill Clinton's quotes should be trumpeted (as evil) by every media outlet -- can you imagine the HURRICANE of outrage from the MSM if a Republican said something like Katrina was good for the party???? Bill Clinton is scum, but once again he does the useful service of showing anyone with open eyes what he and the 'Rats are really all about. Oh, yes, a vast natural catasrophe that kills hundreds and renders countless thousands homeless is a "good thing" because it shows the country that the Democrats can exploit misfortune for their own ends....

Just in case you missed this. As is typical for a communist/socialist/leftist, it doesn't matter how many lives are lost, what matters is that government grows.

And what did Governor Blanco have to say about all of this before Katrina struck? Here she is at an August 27 press conference:
And I think that this will be a very positive experience for the most people possible.

Seems many missed the "it's good for my party" angle...even Rush failed to mention it today.

People have been critical of George W. for his choice to involve 'Clintoon' in the tsunami and now the hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
I am mainly critical of how Clinton has handled his time at the podium.
I believe Bush is wise to stick by the tried and true leadership axiom, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."
Better to have 'Pops' with/watching "Bubba" and have some sort of line on his words and activities than to allow the biggest opportunistic, pandering hack to ever sit as a US President to grapple with those media circuses on his own time and terms, IMHO!

I have a plan to get rid of Clinton: 1. get clinton elected secretary general of UN (shouldn't be difficult, those clowns all love him) 2. stop ALL U.S. funding of UN 3. pull U.S. out of UN 4. revoke all diplomatic visas of UN personnel 5. wave bye bye.....he will go with them

Former President Bill Clinton described the devastation from Hurricane Katrina as "a positive thing for our country"He said this on SATURDAY? Guess the old news boat travels slow across the Atlantic.
If Katrina was good, and Katrina was caused by global warming, then global warming is good.
If Katrina was good, then we should have more hurricanes. To do this, we need more global warming.
Clinton was against global warming, so it is his fault that we haven't had more good things like Katrina.
9/11 must have been good, too.

As long as Bill Clinton continues to act as an operative for the election of his wife, Hitlary, to the presidency in 2008, we should not trust what he says. There appears to be a train wreck waiting to happpen with all the talking that Bill Clinton is doing. He may be the undoing of Hitlary's 2008 bid.
There is speculation that Bill Clinton has eyes on Kofi Annan's spot as Secretary-General of the United Nations. Annans term as secretary-general is up at the end of 2006. If Bill Clinton were to be voted in as secretary-general, this would be the kiss of death to Hitlary's bid for the presidency in 2008. The American electorate would not stand for so much power to be concentrated in one family. With the anti-American sentiment in the United Nations, there is not much chance that any American would be considered anyway. We should have a little assurance that if with the small chance that he were elected, it would end whatever chances Hitlary had.

And now they have what they wanted the largest government involvement in history!Along with the largest population and economy, too. Think about it.
