You are entirely too negative. Do you have anything positive to say, if so lets hear it. we have more than a year before midterms and you may not think the GOP can even twiddle their thumbs, but you forget we are the party in Power for a reason. If you think we cannot do anything,or win anything speak for yourself, with your attitude you cannot win. Lets be realistic, you cannot win with your head down, you must lift your head up to win.

Well for starters, how about we don't make promises to spend whatever it takes. Right now whatever it takes, ranges from the $62-billion already appropriated for Katrina relief to as high as $200-billion and $300-billion. How about that?

WHO is going to watch over how it's spent?

Bush has appointed the Office of the Inspector General to oversee the spending in the area....My first thought...Is he setting up a "sting" operation?

Wait a minute.. I don't recall where Miss Marple said that she was for turning over millions of dollars to the state and local governments in the Gulf area!!!

And, you STILL haven't said what you would do...and using the phrase "LBJ rhetoric" seems remarkably like the DEM talking points...so where are you from?

You mentioned that the federal (beurocracy) should NEVER get involved unless it is for the national defense and national security....do you not think that one of the MAIN shipping posts would important re: national security?

I think you are being a knee-jerk Buchananite...but, if you would outline what SPECIFICALLY you would do to fix the coast, maybe I will change my mind...

You keep telling me and other posters how wrong we are, but you haven't told us what you would do different.

PresBush in his speech clearly made the case for expansive big government, cradle to grave nannyism.

Obviously did not even listen to the speech but had their mind made up before hand. Cannot decide if this is a troll or just someone too stubborn to try thinking

Sorry to toss this back, but that's what NOT to do. What WOULD you do?

I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I am concerned the money in LA is spent properly (not a lot of confidence there) but also concerned who is watching how CLinton spends his latest windfall... what laws or rules applies to what he is doing in his unofficial position as king of the UN? (sorr for sounding sarcastic. Hard not to when Clinton and money are mentioned in the sale post.)

So, your solution is to carp about spending. The President gets to make the decisions, and if you don't like them, you gripe? And you refuse to offer an alternative solution?

It is a valid question RM and I too would like you to answer her.

"Semi-awake" YES!

"dreaming?" NO!

"An old Coast-to-Coast repeat segment with Art Bell? Flight 800 report?"Not an old Coast-to-Coast. I looked her name up. Her name is Tammy Bruce and she is on my local KTCR from 11:00pm to 2:00am.

"Sorry, been watching Fox all day, but haven't heard anything about this." She said it wasn't confirmed so I guess it was nothing. But you know the media even FOX is reluctant to say anything about Terrorists in this country.

How about RM you actually ANSWER the question for a change. What would you have Bush and the GOP do about Hurricane Recovery?

Do you have ANY idea how much this is costing the Fed Govt in Evacuee aid and lost tax revenues every day NOTHING is done?

Finally, "Do NOTHING" seems to be your answer. Is that your solution?

.... what specific changes to what President Bush has proposed would YOU MAKE? and what have YOU done to try and effect those changes???

Wake up! Bush has made promises to spend whatever it takes. That is not policy consistent with a conservative policy agenda. It is a policy agenda consistent with big government Republicanism. I hope that clarifies things for you.

As for the polls. Bush`s speech will get him what he's after. Better polling numbers, both on WH internals and public polls like Gallup.

AS I said before my first thought is "W" is setting up a sting operation.....Give the man enough rope, he'll hang himself thing.

There have been so many corruption indictments that have been UNDER reported by the MSM lately (All seem to involve "rats") that I'm sure the FBI, IG, Judicial and other agencies are on their toes....

Just look at how many voter fraud cases there have been in the last year, IN WI NM OH MI MO to name just a few. I'd wager more in the last years than the last 20 years total.

"W" is a Texan poker player....He'll hold his card close, bluff when he has to and make you think you're in control until he scoops in the kitty......Hill/Billy had better mind their P&Qs.

but, if you would outline what SPECIFICALLY you would do to fix the coast, maybe I will change my mind...

Yes, please answer the question this time. WHAT do you want Bush and the GOP Congress to do?

Do you realize how much this adds to the Deficit everyday in both the costs of direct aid to Evacuees and lost tax Revenues? Do you realize doing NOTHING still costs the Fed Govt BILLIONS? Do you realize that "Doing nothing" will require the Feds to spend those billions FOR EVER?

Just how many votes do you think your "do nothing" plan will get in the Congress?

Considering how much damage you claim was done to Bush's poll numbers by the post Katerina media spin about Bush being "too little too late", what do you think the "Do nothing" plan of yours would do to the Republican parties chances in the next election?

You are aware that we live in a Constitutional Republic not a Presidential Dictatorship? That the consensus of the whole not the emotional whimsy of the few, dictate policy?

Back to point one. Source for your accusation that Bush's plan is poll driven?
