I Will Rebuild With You, Mr. President
By Donna Brazile
On Thursday night President Bush spoke to the nation from my city. I am not a Republican. I did not vote for George W. Bush -- in fact, I worked pretty hard against him in 2000 and 2004. But on Thursday night, after watching him speak from the heart, I could not have been prouder of the president and the plan he outlined to empower those who lost everything and to rebuild the Gulf Coast...
I know, maybe better than anyone, that there are times when it seems that our nation is too divided ever to heal. There are times when we feel so different from each other that we can hardly believe that we are all part of the same family. But we are one nation. We are a family. And this is what we do. When the president asked us to pitch in Thursday night, he wasn't really asking us to do anything spectacular. He was asking us to be Americans, and to do what Americans always do...
Mr. President, I am ready for duty. I am ready to stir those old pots again. Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work.
The writer, a Democratic political consultant, managed Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign.

Retranslating the retranslation of the translation:
"The Clintons don't want me around no more and I liked what you did with Condi. Got anything open in HUD?"
Never dreamed of it. Just find it an impressive statement this once.
To adgirl. the post wasnt specifically to you. I just sometimes hit reply and it was on your post. Im new to this. Im glad we are engaged.... Im so proud of our Prez.
You are probably correct, But Donna has always struck me as not being a complete DemoRat mind numbed robot.
She knows that red and blue map is about urban folks whose cities don't work. When the President acknowledged the inequity in NO and promised not to rebuild in that image, when the folks ABC interviewed right after the speech endorsed his vision, Brazile knew the politics of the situation on the ground don't favor the Democrats. The time is not right for them to stand up and reflect on where decades of their leadership has led. What has to be more troubling for them though is that the ideas and promises that have led to such a loyal voting block have been revealed to be bankrupt. I'm sure they'd like to contain that like one would a chemical spill. Is it any wonder she says it's time to be Americans?
Rush says that people do not follow HATRED, but want a vision. What Pres. Bush gave the people this last Thursday night, was basically a vision. "Where there is no vision, the people will perish." (Proverbs)
The Dems offer absolutely NO VISION. Their hatred and criticism and utterly poor leadership (New Orleans and LA) is turning people off. President Bush's Vision, just like Reagan, is turning people on. I believe that's it, pure and simple.
I'm an optimist and I take this article as it is. I think Brazile was truly inspired and moved by GW's speech. And...I think she will be in big trouble with the DUmmies.
Perhaps because people like her were busy dividing the country. But I am not one to hold grudges. Welcome aboard, Donna!
That was a great post! Wish I could sample his hot dogs!
Great article. I have always suspected the rest of the world doesn't hate Geore Bush and the US as much as the libs and the media (same thing) would like us to believe. Those who do hate us at least fear us.
I agree with you.
Just goes to show -- you show up at a casino waving around 200 billion dollars, everybody's your friend.
The second part and this is the biggie all of the poor neighborhoods will have to be bulldozed flat. President Bush is giving them the opportunity to have a home of thier own, a real chance of economic opportunity, and a future. For the last 40plus years all the democrats have given them is Gov. housing, food stamps, welfare, and dispare with no chance at a future. Then at every election tell them it's the Republicans fault they have no future."
You forgot the other thing the Dems have given them - FREE BUS RIDES TO THE POLLING STATION -- with rice and beans!
Maybe she has a heart and has been forced to see what the welfare state has done to her people.

True. But.....
I just have to believe that when someone as partisan as she is says this, there is a "what's in it for me" reason behind it.
Until proven otherwise, I will always believe there is an ulterior motive behind anything a DIM says like this.
