I Will Rebuild With You, Mr. President
By Donna Brazile
On Thursday night President Bush spoke to the nation from my city. I am not a Republican. I did not vote for George W. Bush -- in fact, I worked pretty hard against him in 2000 and 2004. But on Thursday night, after watching him speak from the heart, I could not have been prouder of the president and the plan he outlined to empower those who lost everything and to rebuild the Gulf Coast...
I know, maybe better than anyone, that there are times when it seems that our nation is too divided ever to heal. There are times when we feel so different from each other that we can hardly believe that we are all part of the same family. But we are one nation. We are a family. And this is what we do. When the president asked us to pitch in Thursday night, he wasn't really asking us to do anything spectacular. He was asking us to be Americans, and to do what Americans always do...
Mr. President, I am ready for duty. I am ready to stir those old pots again. Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work.
The writer, a Democratic political consultant, managed Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign.

RPTFLMAO
Bob Beckel is certifiable. I set land speed records reaching for the remote, if I see his face on Fox. Merely muting is not enough. The TV goes OFF.
I've heard the hateful things this woman has said about President Bush. All of a sudden she's in warm and fuzzy mode about him? I trust Donna Brazile about as far as I can throw her.
Is she sincere, or looking for a way to get in on some free publicity?
Sorry, I have no experience in that area, so I can't relate.
;-)
"Bob Beckel is certifiable"
Boy do I agree with that. I've almost stopped watching FOX. I'm so disappointed in the new people - General Clark, etc. They're all frothing at the mouth dems and I'm sick of listening to them. If I wanted to see and hear those points of view, I'd watch CNN.
Ditto.
If that race baiter is fer it - I'm agin' it.
Just goes to show, a good whore goes where the $$$ is.
Seems like the DemonRAT Plantation ain't paying so well these day...
I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. If she's been directly affected by the hurricane, she's likely to have a VEY different viewpoint from the nattering nabobs in the Dem. party.
President Bush has again out-smarted the Democrats. By taking all the heat and responsibility in the Katrina disaster, he is poised to receive all the credit when New Orleans rises again. Natives, tourists, conventioneers and Mardi Gras celebrators will all have the same thing in mind- that this is the city that George W. Bush re-built!
I think that is part of it. The real thing that the left in this country is terrified of is that the black community in this country have and will see the real difference between liberals and Conservatives.
First.Democrats, flooded buses and the Super dome with starvation.Republican, food and water, buses,Astrodome, and medical help.
The second part and this is the biggie all of the poor neighborhoods will have to be bulldozed flat. President Bush is giving them the opportunity to have a home of thier own, a real chance of economic opportunity, and a future. For the last 40plus years all the democrats have given them is Gov. housing, food stamps, welfare, and dispare with no chance at a future. Then at every election tell them it's the Republicans fault they have no future.
The democrats have to figure out a way to get on board of this train. I don't think they can. The people in New Orleans saw what happened and they see President Bush taking personal control of the rebuilding. Not just talking about it,but they know he is going to do it.
I sent Donna Brazile the article about the Bozeman, Montana City Council, sending back the federal matching funds for a parking garage, so that the funds could be freed for use in rebuilding the gulf region. We need some prominent support to spread this idea. Whichever party picks up on it, will benefit at the polls.
Lots of good responses but this is the best so far!
I bet it is better than that. I bet the polls are closer to post 9/11 speach. Everyone knows when Bush says he going to do something he means it!
It is surprising. *However*, as I have said many times, one time does not make a trend. Don't make one set of remarks into an epiphany.
