Blair ‘shocked’ over BBC Katrina coverage
Financial Times ^ | Friday Sep 16 2005 .

Tony Blair was shocked by the BBC's coverage of Hurricane Katrina's devastation of New Orleans, describing it as “full of hatred of America”, Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of News Corporation, revealed on Friday night.

Mr Murdoch, a long-time critic of the BBC who controls rival Sky News, said the prime minister had recounted his feelings in a private conversation earlier this week in New York.

It is really sad what has been done to what was once the preeminent news organization in the world.

Just remember....

George Washington fought the Revolutionary War with ONE THIRD of the citizenry of the 13 colonies sympathetic to England...another ONE-THIRD that were fence-sitters waiting to see who appeared to be the victor.

The BBC cater to those world citizens with that type of mindset.

Many British and Europeans think what the USA did with LEND-LEASE during WWII was cowardice...and that we only got into the fight once we saw the losses mount on the Germans.

I include myself in that one-third that would have served under General Washington...but then again, I'm sitting here in the comfort of my CAC'd home surfing the FR forum.

America and Israel have something closer to a marriage than to a friendship.

"CNN International sure can give the BBC a run for its money."

I'm glad someone else said that. CNN International makes the BBC look fair and balanced. BBC is often so boring nobody with a pulse would watch it anyway. But CNN International tries to keep the pace moving quickly enough to maximize their blatant anti-American message.

hmmmm,.... MI, how stands the London Times? I recall overhearing adults in my youth sneering at a story in a local paper and saying; "I'll believe it when I read it in the London Times."

How Stands the Times????

Can't be any worse than the full-bore hatefest put on every hour of every day by our own lovely lefties right here in America. The way I see it, the populations of both the UK and the USA are fairly evenly split between left and right. Unfortunately, the right is playing cricket while the left is playing for keeps.

The CSA's ocean going fleet would not have been possible without British connivance. They also supplied weapons to the south. Confederate agents also launched at least one raid from British Canada.

The border skirmishes in the Pacific Northwest took place mainly in the 1840s, to the best of my recollection.

Someone might wish to buy America's increasingly isolated Democrats and the left a clue.

Reporter seized for alleged al-Qaida link

Sep 17, 2005, 17:45 GMT

MADRID, Spain (UPI) -- An al-Jazeera reporter has been taken into custody in Spain for fear he may flee the country after being charged with financing al-Qaida.

The BBC says reporter Tayseer Alouni and another man, Jamal Hussein, were given bail for health reasons.

Verdicts in their case are expected later in September.

Alouni, an al-Jazeera television reporter with Spanish and Syrian citizenship, is accused of giving money to al-Qaida in Afghanistan.

He also is accused of a close relationship with another man on trial, Immad Yarkas, also known as Abu Dahdah.

Yarkas is accused by Spanish authorities of having some role in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Alouni denies any wrongdoing.

The BBC is run by a mandatory tax on all citizens of the UK.

UK immigration policies on Muslims, UK policies on Islamic hate preaching, UK libel laws used against Americans who expose Jihad funding, put the US in immediate danger.

Richard Reid and the Finsbury Mosque did not come from Israel.

No US soldiers have ever been in harms way protecting Israelis. On the contrary, Israel took out the Iraqi nuclear reactor to entire world condemnation at the time.

Israel sales to China were approved by US. They have desisted at US request.

You said: "The difference is that we haven't aided Israel's enemies in the way Israel has aided ours. (Again, China.)"

"The report issued last week in Washington said Egypt recorded $6.5 billion worth of weapons purchases from 2001 to 2004. Israel bought $4.4b. during the same period and Saudi Arabia recorded $3.8b. "

'snip'

"This is surprising since it comes at a time when the long-term Egypt economy has been in decline. It is clearly that Egypt doesn't have any other enemies [than Israel]."

So in the scheme of things who is a bigger and more immediate danger Egypt and Saudi Arabia to Israel, or China to the US?

That wasn't an Egyptian UAV they found with those captured terrorists lately.

You didn't answer my question. I will. Israel is under an immediate existential threat.

I have answered your question. I pointed out ways in which the UK has not been an ally to the US starting with the state funded BBC.

As to your comment, I am not aware of the incident. Can you supply more information. Is your point that an Israeli UAV sold to China was used by terrorists against the US? Or that Israelis spying on the US supplied info to terrorists attacking the US? Only those claims would be in line with your complaints against Israel.

Here in Europe I have to fight with my friends who get their perverted news from garbage outlets such as CNN, BBC, Guardian, and NYT.
I have one French friend that thinks that only the REAL news comes from these outlets...He thinks the NYT is the only "real" American newspaper....Pathetic

I am not shocked.

A friend (or maybe former friend) of mine in Britian sent me a bunch of newspaper clippings of Katrina coverage, then she proceeded to tell me in an email how it was all Bush's fault.

I emailed her back and told her I wouldn't place any credibilty on those rags she sent me. I then emailed her dozens of articles on how the local and state government failed those people, showing proof Bush tried to send in the NG and the Governor's balking.

I haven't heard a word from her since. I tell you what I don't understand liberals. She knows I am very conservative and doesn't mind spouting her liberal ideology to me, but God forbid I tell her what I think.

Yes, I can.

My point is that the Chinese are providing assistance to terrorists, and Israel is selling the Chinese our technology, meaning that China's ability to threaten the US is being aided by Israel's actions. If it comes to a shooting war between the US and China, American soldiers will be killed by their own technology, thanks to Israel.
