The fast-food chain, Burger King, is withdrawing its ice-cream cones after the lid of the dessert offended a Muslim.
The man claimed the design resembled the Arabic inscription for Allah, and branded it sacrilegious, threatening a "jihad".
The chain is being forced to spend thousands of pounds redesigning the lid with backing from The Muslim Council of Britain. It apologised and said: "The design simply represents a spinning ice-cream cone."
The offending lid was spotted in a branch in Park Royal last week by business development manager Rashad Akhtar, 27, of High Wycombe.
He was not satisfied by the decision to withdraw the cones and has called on Muslims to boycott Burger King. He said: "This is my jihad. How can you say it is a spinning swirl? If you spin it one way to the right you are offending Muslims."
A Muslim Council spokesman said: "We commend the sensitive and prompt action that Burger King has taken."

Some Christians are certainly as irrationally superstitious and easily, foolishly offended BUT no Christians have beheaded anyone or declared 'jihad' on a fast-food chain.

Compare: One Muslim person complains he is offended and all the cones are withdrawn. Thousands of Christian people complain about the Shanksville Memorial and all we get is: "It's a coincidence, get over it."

I'm guessing whatever sales they lose would be more than offset (I'D start eating there) if the CEO said something along the lines of, "Spinning ice cream cones offend you? Well, beheadings of innocent people offend me, so take your business elsewhere...we don't care what you think OR eat!"

Well, sure. Since Islam itself makes as much sense as a spinning ice cream cone, I could see that the guy would be offended. If they redesign the lid to look like a pile of camel poop, he will be offended for the same reason.
Does no one care that I find table clothes sacred because on top of them I feed my family and these guys offend me by wrapping them around their heads ? Is there anyone I can sue ?
