what BS. Most roads to NO were destroyed, especially those from the north and east. The looting, IMO, was committed by those who deliberately stayed behind. I'm inclined to agree with you but for a different reason. It's well known that there was a very high percentage of blacks in NOLA so one would also assume the gangs would be mostly black. However, one would further assume that out of state thugs would come from locations where the population is less black and therefore the thugs moving in would be represented accordingly, no? From what I saw on TV though, the thugs seemed to be almost all black and this makes me think that they were almost exclusively from NOLA. I don't think that nationwide, blacks have the market cornered on thugdom.

cops have always been on the take. unless I see prove, the gangs were the existing gangs in New Orleans who looted from banks and all. Sounds like a diversion from the local ilk that have lived there forever.

I think you just want to argue. Paintings, art works and some jewelry can be identified and traced if pawned or sold. If pawned or sold by known gang members in the named citites, then we might have "some" idea that perhaps Colonel Hunt is correct.

no, not you, it's the way the looters look, I expected the out-side gangs to have a more sinister, para-military look. I'm sorry to have offended you and thanks for the video.

I considered that for a second and dismissed. What you had was lawlessness and looting. Drugs, alcohol and guns; stoned, drunk and armed - bad things are going to happen.

*snicker* No problem. I thought maybe one of them had a "I Love New Orleans" shirt on or something. LOL! I was in a hurry.

STILL hard to believe outsiders were largely responsible for the looting. The outsiders were responsible for robbing jewelry stores, banks and seemingly hospitals all high value targets. Locals settled for Wal-Mart and grocery stores. IMHO.

No argument there. But absence of such evidence doesn't mean no thugs migrated to NOLA on speculation. Like I said, no evidence, no migration, smart thug.

There were reports of looting in Biloxi but IIRC it all happened during the hurricane and officials afterward said there was no looting because there was nothing left to loot. After the winds reach 45 mph, LEO bunkers up and anyone willing to risk it has free access. That is a lesson learned from many a storm. I think it IS plausible that such opportunistic looting occurred.

Maybe Nagil DID have a plan and those gangs were the core of his plan?
Typical of his type!
To: rineaux
it doesn't strike me as ridiculous, especially with gangs operating in many cities. Hunt made a point of stressing the complicity of the police, and at least at one time they were thought to be the most corrupt in the country.

The looting, IMO, was committed by those who deliberately stayed behind. Or went there before the hurricane to stake out some prime real estate.(jewelry stores)
