Better yet, execute him.
There were also a lot of freepers who thought that a mostly-women Madison jury was going to let the guy off. The fact that they came back with verdict in just four hours is telling.""
Weekend here. Football, etc.
I watched a little (about 15 minutes) of the trial on Court TV today. I wonder how many of the Blue State, Wisconsin liberals are happy today that their state does NOT have the death penalty and this guy, who shot in the back and killed 6 unarmed people, will watch TV, be clothed, fed and given medical treatment in prison, at the expense of us taxpayers, for the rest of his life.""
Is there a pool going for how long this guy will last in a prison in Wisconsin? I don't think he will last very long.
I can't do a darned thing personally about murderers outside my jurisdiction (other than state the obvious as most folks here are doing) . . . but it sounds like the good people of Wisconsin took care of this fellow to the extent that they could, absent availability of the death penalty.
He will go through the usual round of appeals and a habeas corpus petition, then spend the rest of his life in prison. Seems to be the best outcome that could occur, given the limits of the state system. In Georgia, outside Fulton County, he would have ridden the needle, but that's woulda-shoulda-coulda.
And your problem with this is . . . ?
Good news! I had my doubts. Will it be enough to get the drunk reelected again? I'm sure this case will be highlighted in future commercials.
A number of them that I've talked to think that Vang is as guilty as sin, but worry that the case will give Hmong hunters a bad name. Mostly they just seem to want to keep a low profile and let things calm down.
LOL You ask an interesting question. I think our Senator was the only one to question Judge Roberts' about the second amendment during the hearings & Feingold is from the Madison area. I don't think I agree with Feingold about anything, other than his position on the second amendment.
The really telling thing about this case is the fact that this guy's attorney thought, even for a second, that he could get an acquittal by playing the race issue. For God's sake, this guy shot and killed six people, most of them unarmed, most of them in the back, and two of them a woman and a teenaged boy. And the lawyer thought, as did I and a lot of folks on this board, that he had a good chance to walk, especially since he got to pick 12 Madison pinkos to serve on the jury.
It says a lot about what's wrong with our society that this was a feasible defense option for even an instant.
From what I've heard, Hmong hunters already have a pretty bad reputation for trespassing and poaching, even without psychos like Vang.
Sad case? He murdered 5 people!
And when was the last time in the past 100 years, the Anglo population revolted after a court verdict they didn't like?
It is called Private property for a reason. I would be cranky too if some jackleg comes on to MY land with a weapon.
Political correctness is an insidious illness. Far more prevalent than racist bogeymen.
I promise not to bash Madison for one week.
I can tell anyone who cares to listen that predators flourish in the joint.
They can make a life of life.
but....the needle or rope or chamber or sparky....they don't like that
Might I suggest then to politely ask him to leave.
Yes, it is sad. Sad anytime anyone dies. I never forget the families of the slain hunters in my prayers, or those of the unborn, taken too soon.
Perhaps that covers them, although demanding a guy who wanders onto your land pay $____ otherwise you'll call the cops comes pretty near extortion.
Had he not gotten on the stand and said "those 3 deserved to die", I think that jury may have let him off.
Give the jury some credit. When was the last time anybody was acquitted of shooting four unarmed people in the back?
