His voting base now lives in Houston, Texas. His Mayor and Governor now utterly hated by most Louisiana voters. A wise move.

There's a lot of $$$$$$ coming his way. He did his job in preventing the Feds, and making the Pubbies look bad. Not he gets to clean up on the gold strike down South.

Koneschusky said Bernhard is so busy in the hurricane reconstruction and recovery efforts that "he doesn't even know what's going on politically."

"and pigs fly and the moon is made of green cheese."

So I guess he owns one of those evil corporations that will profiteer from the rebuilding efforts?

The Louisiana RAT party is the most corrupt that this nation has ever seen. I used to be a Louisiana RAT (I soap myself an extra 5 minutes per shower) and know just how deep and corrupt they are.

Although the Louisiana RATs have lost some US Congressional and 1 (one) Senate race, they rarely loose state elections. They own the House and the Senate and the Governorship.

In summary, they are bulletproof until the people of Louisiana have had enough, which I see no evidence yet.

Perhaps this storm will result in a major demographic shift against the RATs.

Ruh, roh. Now, just how much time will Nagin and Blanco do behind bars for their incompetence and criminal negligence?

"Democratic Party Chairman Jim Bernhard stepped down from the leadership job Friday, saying he needs to focus on his engineering and construction company — which is heavily involved in Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts. "

Sounds like the sounds of "KA-CHING!" were too loud to have his attention diverted.

Read: I can make a lot more money and I won't be investigated in the failures of the response while sitting in this position.

Blanco, Nagin. You're turn.

I guess Mr Bernhard is too busy for democrat politics now.

excerpt from the Shaw Group Inc.

"J.M. Bernhard, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Shaw commented, "This significant contract from the Corps, combined with our award from FEMA, enhances our ability to make an immediate and pronounced impact on the restoration efforts in New Orleans, South Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region. With nearly 5,000 of our own employees living and working here in our home state, we have been personally impacted by this devastating storm. We are committed to this region and we are grateful for the opportunity to play a leadership role in the rebuilding of Louisiana and our sister city, New Orleans."

Shaw is currently performing services under existing contracts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NASA, the Louisiana National Guard, the U.S. Navy, Jefferson Parish and other government agencies and entities. Shaw is presently providing temporary roofing and repairs under its existing "Blue Roof" contract. The company is providing critical logistical support to the U.S. Postal Service to restore mail service and has been providing critical food water and supplies to hospitals in the area. Shaw has provided emergency communications capabilities to both the city of New Orleans and St. Bernard Parish."

Oh boy. I'm sure they're doing a top-notch job, too.
