Feds documenting environmentalist opposition on levees

Federal officials appear to be seeking proof to blame the flood of New Orleans on environmental groups, documents show.

The Clarion-Ledger has obtained a copy of an internal e-mail the U.S. Department of Justice sent out this week to various U.S. attorneys' offices: "Has your district defended any cases on behalf of the (U.S.) Army Corps of Engineers against claims brought by environmental groups seeking to block or otherwise impede the Corps work on the levees protecting New Orleans? If so, please describe the case and the outcome of the litigation."

Don't forget the toll of houses, forests and wildlife due to wildfires.

The environazis prevented maintenance on the levees around Sacramento, adding to the problems which led to the ruptures in the past ten years. I seem to remember 86,000 acres being flooded in 1996 or so.

The levees were full of holes from the ground gophers, and the environazis wouldn't let them get shot or otherwise dispatched. Finally, all there was was holes, and then some GREAT BIG holes.

If it was YOUR property that was under water, who would YOU blame?

I hope Bush has the cojones to stay on topic with this data, and shove it down the throats of the environazis.

It is too bad that article doesn't state where the money that was funded to them was diverted - and who diverted it.

There was a lone hippie environmentalist down there about that time filing suit to stop everything. I don't remember which group he was with. Part of it was a Jesse Jackson type operation and part of it was leftist. He also filed suit to stop Louisiana Power and Light from building a nuclear plant. Before they finished with him the projected cost of the plant went from about four hundred million to nearly two billion.
