Memphis -- A university student from Egypt was ordered held without bond after prosecutors said they found a pilot's uniform, chart of Memphis International Airport and a DVD titled "How an Airline Captain Should Look and Act" in his apartment.
The FBI is investigating whether Mahmoud Maawad, 29, had any connection to terrorists. He is awaiting trial on charges of wire fraud and fraudulent use of a Social Security number.
Maawad, who is in the United States illegally, told the judge during a hearing Thursday that he is studying science and economics at the University of Memphis.
"My school is everything. I stay in this country for seven years; I stay for the school," he said.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Steve Parker said Thursday that the airport-related items were found during a Sept. 9 search.

The company reported Maawad to authorities when he didn't pay for $2,500 of merchandise it had delivered, Gulczynski said. I wonder if the company would reported him if he had paid. Kinda scary to think they would not have reported him. Wow!

...is in the United States illegally....is studying science and economics at the University of Memphis. This school, and any other school who lets illegals enroll or attend class should be held accountable. The government, unfortunately, has been a willing co-conspirator. This is one area where I hold the president totally responsible, or irresponsible since it seems to fit.

Waste of resources......just strap him into the front seat handcuffed of a drone for the next target practice session for our air defense systems. Put him in the back seat of a QF-4, converted from one of the Navy models, with no controls in the rear seat.

The Egyptian seems to have a thinking problem like Ted Striker's drinking problem.

So he wants to be a jet pilot huh? I suggest we strap his sorry ass into the SNORT at China Lake and give him a little ride down the track with, say, an ejection seat experience at the end with a brick wall in front. That should cure him of his desire to fly for some time. For those unfamiliar with SNORT, here's some more info.

You heartless SOB! (just kiddin')
That would f'up his view and sensation and dreams of flying and being in control. Plus, he might miss the view of the SAM coming straight in on his nose and the pretty lights and images of 70 virgins it makes when it explodes in front of him. Just make sure there's a pound of bacon behind the warhead before launch.

Perhaps the University of Memphis needs to review its admissions standards Perhaps the United States should review it's border patrol and entrance policies.

Maawad, who is in the United States illegally, told the judge during a hearing Thursday that he is studying science and economics at the University of Memphis. Illegally, schmillegally. As long as he is murdering people no one else wants to murder, what is the harm?
