Memphis -- A university student from Egypt was ordered held without bond after prosecutors said they found a pilot's uniform, chart of Memphis International Airport and a DVD titled "How an Airline Captain Should Look and Act" in his apartment.
The FBI is investigating whether Mahmoud Maawad, 29, had any connection to terrorists. He is awaiting trial on charges of wire fraud and fraudulent use of a Social Security number.
Maawad, who is in the United States illegally, told the judge during a hearing Thursday that he is studying science and economics at the University of Memphis.
"My school is everything. I stay in this country for seven years; I stay for the school," he said.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Steve Parker said Thursday that the airport-related items were found during a Sept. 9 search.

Morning....
Hope you didn't think I was making fun or being sarcastic....re-reading my post, I can see how it could be taken that way...I was genuinely surpised and amazed about the engine being from a Rolls. My laughter came from your rephrasing my comment to better fit the situation... "Rolls Royce is the likes of Gulfstream." Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. It was truly interesting.

I would like to know how all of these basr\tards are getting into our country? SOMEONE is not doing thier job. How can this be happening that a school allows him to enroll with NO immigration papers? If it is that easy to get away with, then God help us.
"Same guy?

Mahmoud Maawad
engineenering student in USA"
Fits the basic description ... poor grammar to boot!
Dude, we're talking about airplanes. They don't detour around construction or stop at traffic lights. Memphis, Atlanta, Houston, New York, LA, Monrovia -- they're all a straight shot up to Chicago.
Well, what's wrong with looking and acting like an airline captain in the privacy of your home?
How dare anyone suggest that this innocent muslim youth was planning on donning the uniform and taking over the controls of a commercial airliner.
Terrorists shouldn't be captured and released like fish in a stream. They should be captured and executed by firing squad or hanging. What a favor we'd be doing him by sending him to his 72 whores.
What a war. They want to die and we want to kill them.
Why isn't this a big story in Memphis??? It's just glossed over ...
Well, seems like he was interested in landings as well as takeoffs, so he's probably just an aviation buff/sarcasm off
LOL......sure....so he must be innocent?
I hope they tapped his phones for the last 3 months...
I've been called "The Judge" also to reference my ability to do "bench work".
This has morphed into being called "Dred". ; )
"Smoke tester" is another one....
Not at all!
I love sarcasm to boot!
Sometimes it doesn't come across as I mean, I think. Glad you didn't take it wrong, as I was genuinely surprised. : )
LoL!
I can hear the words of his defense attorney now.....
My previous boss, who's quite sarcastic, learned not to ask my opinion on his sarcastic letters (not made in fun)....as his were almost mild in comparison...we had to go to a neutral of his peers, who, on a few occasions, "overruled" our consensus. We were, at times, a "bad" team. : )
I can understand the "previous" in your statement. ; )
LOL! Nope...he calls me yearly, asking me to move back to CO and work for him again.
We had lots of fun together, though we worked very hard, of course. We made a good team, except for the sarcasm...I wasn't able to temper that with him....as I was worse. : )
They want to be in the sky for a short period of time to avoid:
a) consumption of jet fuel.
b) possibility of being sighted, tracked and shot down before hitting the target.
It has nothing to do with stoplights, dude.
Memphis is to Chicago as Boston was to New York, or Newark was to DC.
