Memphis -- A university student from Egypt was ordered held without bond after prosecutors said they found a pilot's uniform, chart of Memphis International Airport and a DVD titled "How an Airline Captain Should Look and Act" in his apartment.
The FBI is investigating whether Mahmoud Maawad, 29, had any connection to terrorists. He is awaiting trial on charges of wire fraud and fraudulent use of a Social Security number.
Maawad, who is in the United States illegally, told the judge during a hearing Thursday that he is studying science and economics at the University of Memphis.
"My school is everything. I stay in this country for seven years; I stay for the school," he said.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Steve Parker said Thursday that the airport-related items were found during a Sept. 9 search.

Another failure of the Borders and how transparent they are.
We need to make serious examples of these creeps.
If I were to believe he had no nasty plans for all these items, I could believe I am 25 again and slim and beeeuuuutifullll.....Sure I can.

"Mastering GPS Flying" On the recent airing of the Flight 93 documentary....a pilot (I believe) specifically said the terrorists did not know how to work the GPS on the plane, and didn't know how to turn off the alarm when the auto pilot is turned off....

"My school is everything."
Yeah, everything. Like getting a student visa so he can scope out a target to murder. Inform Abu Graib to prepare the panties.

Why? Because once he hits the ground he's not our problem anymore, let the French clean him up.

Google search has this interesting tidbit, but I cannot get to the entry at the Arabic site itself. Maybe someone can explore this to see if it is our fledging airline pilot imposter.

Maybe we should "introduce" him to that pilot from the old "Airplane" movies:
"Timmy Mahmoud, have you ever been in a Turkish Prison?"
Cheers!

Hard to believe. Maybe he's just wanted to be a guest pilot. Nah, he's just studying for his course in acting that he found on a match book cover.
Memphis airport being shut down could create a decimating effect to commerce with all the shipping going through it.
A noose, black mask, and a trap door on a platform is something this fine young fellow should be acquainted with.

It would take many hours of training to learn how to operate the FMS in any airliner.
Turning off the alarm is simple once one knows. It's a simple push of a button if one understands the system.
