This is so confusing. I thought it was ALL Dubya's fault!!!
To: Aussie Dasher
Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco yesterday took responsibility for failures and missteps in the immediate response to Hurricane Katrina and pledged a united effort to rebuild areas ravaged by the storm. About frickin' time. That ditzy dope was the one who lead the "Blame Bush" brigade...

object lesson in leadership: whether they say they love you or hate you, they will copy you (if you're a genuine leader). Bush led the way by publicly taking responsibility. This man is a brilliant leader -- a brilliant leader. Has surprised me on the upside numerous times with his responses to crisis and critics. He's up there with Lincoln and Washington - mark my words.
To: Aussie Dasher
After Dubya took responsibility now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.

I think it dawned on the Governor that she won't be able to take credit for any of the "new" New Orleans that Bush will be building unless she comes clean. The MSM will provide ample cover for her.

This dingbat should be impreahced. She's a disgrade even by Louisiana's low standards.

We all know that there were failures at every level of government: state, federal and local.Yes, but your saying it like that implies that each branch was equally responsible. If the truth is that the fault is 60% state, 35% local and 5% federal, that's something else again. It's the typical liberal fallacy of moral equivalence. Saddam murdered literally millions of people but a young soldier at Abu Graib put panties on a prisoner's head: conclusion--they are both war criminals.

More Bush stratergy:
Bush: I'm responsible for the US gov't response. Blanco (After prodding and by Bush's example): I'm responsible for the State of LA's lame response. Naggin': Ditto.
Bush: I'm not running for re-election (ha-ha). Blanco & Naggin': Hey, ain't we running for re-election? Dang, Bushwacked again.

Notice how Blanco taking the blame merits a headline in the Wash. Times--but not in the WaPost, NYT, Boston Globe, etc.--or round the clock mention on every radio newsbreak?

And just wait until Roberts gets on the bench. The Democrats are befuddled because they don't even know what's happening to them. They aren't smart enough to ask him this one question: "Are you a strict constructionist?" His answer would be, "Damn straight." But it hasn't even crossed their minds that this man is more Borkian than Bork. I love it.

Kinda late for this, ain't it?
(of course, she took responsibility, after two WEEKS of constant Bush-Bashing, by the MSM, and the Pagan left).

Unfortunately, he has simply bought everyone off with our tax dollars, conditioned on the blame game stopping. It was certainly an impressive political maneuver, no doubt, but very very very very expensive.

"...... The buck stops here, and as your governor, I take full responsibility," Mrs. Blanco told lawmakers in a special meeting of the Louisiana Legislature. "
Yawn....... This means nothing. The only thing that can happen to her is that she is impeached or re-called by the voters ( which I doubt either will happen ). This is clearly an empty statement.
If she truly takes responsibilty, she would have resigned.

You think they're only going to hit us up for a mere billion? You're an optimist.
