he is a big man by taking the blame for this...
bigger than I would be....of course HE doesn't deserve it. But my guess is that he is doing it for higher reasons that petty politics.
He is taking the blame in the hope that people will move on from the finger pointing.

The only retarded spot I see here is you.
Did you know that Congress yesterday gave FEMA a blank check from the US Treasury to pay the billions of dollars in flood insurance claims that will be paid? To rebuild in a place that will flood again? I bet you didn't.
You can call me names but I've studied the flood insurance programs the federal gov't has for many years. It's a taxpayer ripoff.

I agree with you. Along with your tag line, the President indicated changes ahead as to military response in times of disaster.
It sounds like he's going to make strong recommendations as to a time line between disaster and states calling for help. Hear that Blanco?

A California judge rules against God, while this President praises Him. The American people will notice this and figure out for themselves which side they're on.
I'm especially glad this President has proposed churches receive some financial support for their mighty efforts, from contributions received by the Bush/Clinton Fund.
"Compassion" is not just a word with this President.

Really? You're full of it.
I've worked on his campaigns locally and donated hundreds of dollars to his campaigns.
But you know better.

In this place there's a custom for jazz musician funerals.
When the casket has been laid in place, the band breaks into music showing the spirit over death.

"Does anyone one else think the damage estimates are absurd?" Absolutely not!! You're talking about the complete infrastructure of a large and critical seaport city and source of oil -- waterways, utilities, bridges, contaminated ground, mold crawling up the walls of thousands and thousands of decimated structures, (schools, churches, office buildings, homes).. and we're not even talking about the God-blessed levee system that surrounds this island of a city sitting in a most vulnerable geographical spot.
I do believe this is the most all-encompassing devastation that any large American city has ever seen.
