Maybe I will vote for Hillary. What the hell's the difference? Split government looks better all the time.

Sorry, the facts I cited regarding the fresh water system is true; it can not be helped when 80+% of the city ends up 15 to 25 feet under water. There is no way that filth did not infiltrate the fresh water pipe system.

Ah. I just get tired of people bashing President Bush, but they don't have any ideas or solutions. Just like the Dems.

Was it really that bad?

It was on right after I got home; it WAS that bad. The reporter seemed to be looking for one of the folks to bash Bush; he looked so disappointed when the woman sat there and blamed Nagin -- he looked like he needed a hug...

I don't see a problem with the Republicans controlling the purse strings while rebuilding the Gulf Region.

I got news for you. The floodgates of Mexicans looking for employment will be staggering. They will be competing with African-Americans for jobs. We're going to see if Vincente Fox was correct in his suggestion that "...his people will do the jobs your blacks won't even do"...

New Orleans will be fitting it's name. Great for the economy.

I just hope the mayor of Detroit isn't downtown milking a cow by oil lantern.

The point I've been trying to make and find the facts to support is a statement made to me years ago by someone who had lived in the area....Moon Landrieu (the Godfather of the clan) was head of HUD during the Carter administration. WHen he returned to NOLA a lot of the houses were bought or foreclosed on and rented at inflated prices using HUD (That's our money) to pay the bills....The price of houses/rent is inflated in the area....(See one of the latest woman's magazine for a featured house that the occupant paid over $100,000 We'd pay less than 30 for the same thing here)

What I've been trying to get information on is who owns these houses....My friend said corrupt politicians had become very wealthy tapping into HUD funding....So infact we are already subsidizing NOLA at a very high rate, but the money is going to the rich not where it is needed....

My step daughter (who lost everything in the flood) has her PhD and says rent is extremely high in NOLA. Her neighborhood is upper middle class professional and very modest home.

In "W" plan he will help the residence own their own homesand bi-pass HUD and rental property....Some folks aren't going to be very happy....and am not referring to the "new" home owners.

No they are not...you did not listen...the President is going to assign a federal watchdog group to make certain EVERY expenditure gos ONLY where it is intended to go...FEDERAL group....because the President also stated that the tax payers LIKE YOU and ME will be expecting it to be done correctly

meaning, of course, and sending the message to LA especially, that their corruption is not going to hold sway with these monies.

Are you always intellectually dishonest or did you fail to listen to the speech?

why can't we simply pay a one time stipend to each family who is unable to return to NO because their home is in a portion of the city that is unrecoverable in the short term? what's wrong with that, give them money (plus private charity money) and let them relocate someplace else.

and let's be honest, had New Orleans not flooded, and had the Dems/MSM not been able to politicize this - do you think that a similar federal program would have been commited to just MS and AL for rebuilding? Had this just occurred in MS and AL, this would have been a 2 day story in the MSM at best.

Do you even have a clue as to the level of destruction there is in an area as large as the entire United Kingdom? Are you aware that entire communities are completely GONE? Do you really believe that we, as a free and caring people, should not help rebuild the Gulf region for the good of our country and our economy?

No, not with federal money. I didn't tell the people of the gulf coast to live so close to the coast and not have flood insurance. I have no problem with the federal government helping out with emergency aid, but not with rebuilding.

I have no problems with the federal government rebuilding their holdings in the affected area. I do have problems with the federal governemnt repeatedly bailing out irresponsible behavior. I have the same problem every year with the mudslides in California.

If a person wants to live in an area prone to natural disasters then they should get insurance. Most people could manage to acquire a Porsche if they put their mind to it, but it is the insurance cost that is the kicker.

I have no problem with the d

It's not minutia. You said six years twice, and then changed it to five.

It wasn't the only time when you didn't bother with accuracy. That's why I brought it up.

You and the left have something in common.

You bash the President, but have no solutions, and don't bother getting your facts straight.

It's a waste of time to deal with either of you.....

Yeah, this ABC hack just didn't quit with his loaded questions peppered with personal commentary. The beautiful thing was that the crowd just wasn't buying it. Instead, the all said that they were now hopeful thanks to the Presiden't speech and were ready to start moving forward and returning to New Orleans.

The tables just shifted tonight, and half of the MSM doesn't have a clue that it just happened right before their eyes!
