9 P.M. EDT.
The "faux conservatives" are the ones that owe their allegience to a man and his career rather than two conservative beliefs. This was not a conservative speech by any stretch.
Bush is NOT a conservative. He runs as one but he is most fiscally liberal president EVER.
no more mercy
And yet no answer.
As to what I have been doing.
Bye!
There are conservative arguments as how to best spend the money how to best stimulate growth, and how to take full advantage of entrepreneurial drive etc. but helping disaster victims is certainly an American value irrespective of ones political or philosophical ideology.
And make sure to pay the taxes to your state and local government. And encourage them to pay their taxes as well.
"IT'S ALL ABOUT BEING ACCEPTED BY THE IN-CROWD AND MADE TO FEEL IMPORTANT BY THE LIBERAL MOVERS AND SHAKERS IN D.C. & THE EAST COAST BASTION."
Ding, Ding, Ding.
I think it will replay at midnight ET, since Bill O'Reilly introduces Brit at the end of his show.
I'm sure CNN was hoping that there would be a bloated body floating nearby that they could show.
The amount of money is still uncertain, but remember that the Pentagon spends more than this every year, and yes. they fail to account for about $20 B.
no more mercy for mercy
IOW "W"'s not giving them a hand out....He truly is offering a hand to help them pull themselves up....I'm proud of him.
if your house is right at the immediate coast, where the storm surge was, its flood.
Yep. Scrooges are miserable.
But,then, Scrooges are miserable most of the time, I've found.
It's a worse night for families on cots in the Astrodome with everything they own in two Hefty Trash Bags.
Yes, he definitely needs an intervention. The only problem is that the libs have already beaten us to the punch. Thanks to the libs, Timmy is flying high and enjoying himself and can no longer be taken seriously. It is obvious to all sane political observers that Russert has sold his soul to the dems. At least I can console myself by watching him self-destruct.
This may be on Hannity and Colmes at 12pm eastern on their repeat. Their live show was during the speech at 9pm eastern.
"I believe we should start with three initiatives that the Congress should pass.
Tonight I propose the creation of a Gulf Opportunity Zone, encompassing the region of the disaster in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Within this zone, we should provide immediate incentives for job-creating investment
tax relief for small businesses
incentives to companies that create jobs ... and loans and loan guarantees for small businesses, including minority-owned enterprises, to get them up and running again. It is entrepreneurship that creates jobs and opportunity
it is entrepreneurship that helps break the cycle of poverty
and we will take the side of entrepreneurs as they lead the economic revival of the Gulf region.
I propose the creation of Worker Recovery Accounts to help those evacuees who need extra help finding work. Under this plan, the federal government would provide accounts of up to five thousand dollars, which these evacuees could draw upon for job training and education to help them get a good job
and for child care expenses during their job search.
To help lower-income citizens in the hurricane region build new and better lives, I also propose that Congress pass an Urban Homesteading Act. Under this approach, we will identify property in the region owned by the federal government, and provide building sites to low-income citizens free of charge, through a lottery. In return, they would pledge to build on the lot, with either a mortgage or help from a charitable organization like Habitat for Humanity. Home ownership is one of the great strengths of any community, and it must be a central part of our vision for the revival of this region."
That's what it's all about to leftists and the hard right (who can tell the difference?).
No thought. Just emoting.
(They won't read the speech either. It might calm them down, and they couldn't handle that.....)
I like the Idea of Enterprise Zones with special tax deals and waivers of labor restrictions. The RATS will hate it.
