I agree. He's usually a better sport. I think he;s worried Bush might have hit a homer. :)

Diebold microchips - made by Halliburton? Or by Cheney in his own basement?

Oh yea, Bush proposed more racial discrimination by saying minority owned businesses will get special treatment. This is really odd since most minorities in NO got in trouble in the first place because they got used to favoritism and handouts, etc.

I've been saying for years that the tax code is racist because it makes it difficult for anyone to open and run a business and it's especially hard on some minorities. Junk the tax code and let's have a simple flat tax or national retail sales tax.

I listened to a few minutes of ABC because it did me good to listen to some sensible minorities who aren't marching in lockstep to blame this good man for everything bad that happens in their life.

And I think on that uplifting note, I'll go read a good book because I just can't tolerate the press any more. I've stayed away from the media for days because they are just too disgraceful for words.

IMHO, America is great because we all pull together.

Howlin, obviously the word "compassion" is not in your heart.

I guess if a disaster hits your life you don't want us to throw you a lifeline!

You are a perfect example of my Tagline!

Not only that, the President is going to give the supervision of the BILLIONS of dollars of construction and supervision into the hands of mayor Nagin and govenor Blanko. The result will be; BILLIONS down the toilet.

I heard that.

Should these people be in court, and or in the process of being prosecuted?

No this is just retarded. The federal government was never intended for this. Nobody ever needs to make emergency plans for themselves - the Federal will take care of them.

I have similar concerns. But my post was not in response to the President's plans. It was response to the ridiculous notion that New Orleans should not be rebuilt which is a non-starter. Who pays for it is a separate subject. The President will get a lot of flak from me and a lot of others on the amount of federal money being thrown at this so carelessly.

I agree. Fine speech.
I liked: Rebuild better, gulf opportunity zone, jobs, emphasis on private/public partnerships, tax credits, home ownership, small business.
Beautiful.

good:Restating taking resposibility Sincere and serious, focus on the future, commitment to finding what went wrong, and fixing it.

The nod to a history of racism was appropriate, and
appreciated. It recognizes real fears of real people.

Well done.

Wow, I can't believe it! On CNN Headlines News, every citizen interviewed praised the President and said that he actually cared!

And could they afford the expensive flood insurance?

Why don't big corporations pay it as a perk for their employees? I guess they don't have to cuz I'm suppose to pay for it.

But your right. Let's cut out the stupid stuff like tax exempt status for "nonpolitical" (cough, cough) nonprofits like Planned Parenthood and the NEA.

It was a great speech in terms of content. What are we going to do, walk away from this disaster? Of course not...and he grabbed on to the opportunity to rebuild using conservative philosophy and values in terms of things like small business and home ownership.
