'I Eat Babies' Painted At Central Fla. Church
POSTED: 12:42 pm EDT September 15, 2005
UPDATED: 1:37 pm EDT September 15, 2005
Police in Sharpes, Fla., are investigating a case of vandalism at a Catholic church in which the message "I eat babies to stay young" and other words were spray painted on signs. Officials at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church located on U.S. 1 north of Cocoa said vandals painted words on their main church sign and a thrift store sign. "We haven't had any problems out here before ... no other run-ins. They also spray painted another sign with the word "Ozi" and I initially thought they may have been referring to Ozzie Osborne," said Deputy Robert Johnson of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
|
The vandals caused more than $1,000 worth of damage at the church. Besides the cost to fix the damage, church members said the "I eat babies" message is disheartening. "I'm discouraged, really discouraged," church member Frank Monachello said. "It does not make me angry. It makes me discouraged that people would do something like that. It should not be." "The message, what does it mean? They also took green paint and totally ruined our signs," said Lula St. Jean, the secretary for the 800-member church. St. Jean said the vandals also painted a left turn arrow on a right turn only sign leading to the divided U.S. 1. "That could have been bad for someone so we took that down," she said. "It's just so senseless." Church officials said they will replace the signs during the next few weeks. There are no suspects in the case. If you have any information concerning this crime, you are urged to call Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.

If a 'church' of the Left such as a Planned Parenthood office or an abortion 'clinic' were similarly vandalized, it will typically become wall-to wall national news. Let's see if any other 'news' agencies pick up on this outside of Florida.

If this was a PC group - minority, homosexual, muslim, etc., it would be a hate crime. But since it is only Christians, just a minor vandalism crime.
Some people are just more equal than others...

Now why in hell don't he get mad? We too often are discouraged and not mad when we should be MAD.

The Church I live close to has had pentagrams painted on it a few times. This is out in the middle of the country so there's hardly any chance of catching the people.

Wow... I've been to this church when I lived in FL in the 90's

This is simply Satan in action.

I wouldn't go so far as saying this was a left wing attack.
It could just as likely be bored kids doing stupid things.
I did some pretty stupid things as a young teenage know it all.
GWB calls my actions "youthful indiscretions".
I would rather err on the side of caution and not be so quick to put a political spin on this unfortunate occurrence. Why give the left any reason to think we're irrational.

I agree with ya on that.
Most likely a drunken batch of pimple faces.

Weird. If a Catholic church calls itself a "Catholic Community" here in Florida, that usually means it's ultra-liberal and probably shares all the views of the left. This shows the level of ignorance of the vandals, at least.
Of course, some churches probably got stuck with the name after an idiot pastor and parish council inflicted it on them, so I am probably making an inappropriate snap judgment.

Exactly.

Jack "Haw Haw" Chick. Great Stuff.
These people don't even know how to spell Ozzy Osbourne's name. Maybe stopping at a record store might help the investigation.

Ah, Jack Chick. He rejects Catholicism. What a guy!
I don't have that tract. Guess I'd better get over to the web site and get one. Gotta know the enemy.

I wouldn't go so far as saying this was a left wing attack. From the article:
"St. Jean said the vandals also painted a left turn arrow on a right turn only sign leading to the divided U.S. 1."
Why go to this extra step if there was no political motivation?
Regardless, it's the secular Left that is most violently antagonistic toward anything suggestive of religion or traditional values. Why else target a church in this way unless the vandals felt antagonistic toward the church?
At any rate, if organizations and spokespeople from Leftist organizations would like to make public statements condemning these acts I will be happy to post them here. Whenever some nutcase vandalizes an abortion clinic or performs some act of violence against a Leftist entity, church and religious leaders are always quick to condemn the crimes and disassociate themselves from the whole matter. Let's see if those on the Left will do the same in this case.

I wouldn't go so far as saying this was a left wing attack. My objection would be that there will probably be no outrage from the left.

Maybe, the clowns who did it thought it'd be cool to see someone turn the wrong way onto a divided highway.
I'm more and more convinced that it was nothing more than bored stupid mind altered kids.

I'm more and more convinced that it was nothing more than bored stupid mind altered kids. Bored-stupid mind-altered kids whose first impulse toward troublemaking is to target a church, not a neutral symbol or a Left-wing symbol.
Would you be similarly inclined to poo-pooh any Conservative involvement in a case of vandalism on an abortion clinic? Would you also be so very quick to suggest that there is no political component to that?
