Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco's abrupt decision Wednesday night to take responsibility for her state's inadequate response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster followed an inadvertent confession that was caught on camera where Blanco admitted she blew it.
"I really should have called for the military," Blanco said, while chatting with her press secretary in between TV interviews. "I really should have started that in the first call."
Unbeknownst to Blanco, her bombshell acknowledgment was recorded on a network satellite feed, and by Tuesday the clip was getting wide exposure in Louisiana news broadcasts.
In the early days of the Katrina crisis, disaster management experts repeatedly blamed the failure to send in the National Guard for the city's descent into chaos.
Most observers blamed the White House for the blunder - a misconception that was thoroughly dispelled by the governor's inadvertent confession. Some say Blanco's blooper was responsible for the abrupt change of tone in her speech Wednesday night to the Louisiana legislature.
Where earlier she and her aides had openly blamed the Bush administration for bungling Katrina rescue efforts, Blanco announced: "The buck stops here, and as your governor, I take full responsibility."
Just as surprising were Blanco's words of praise for the White House: "I want the people of Louisiana to know that we have a friend and a partner in President George W. Bush. I thank you, Mr. President."
Will Michael Moore include this clip in his upcoming "documentary?"
You think the MSM will air this video so the average joe will know what she said? NO. The POTUS took responsibility, so now the MSM has nothing left to do accept blame everything on the Feds.
It does not make one whit of difference who admits what. The MSM will continue to proclaim that it's all Bush's fault and that the polls prove it. The good news is that the polls are wrong, the MSM is wrong and America is much smarter than they give us credit for...well, about 52% of us are.
Read up folks and save the webpage. You may never see this except on FR.
As soon as she found out W. was going to address the nation from NO tonight, as no doubt having in the last weeks had first-hand experience with "misunderestimating" him, she wanted to get out in front of him with her responsibility schtick and with softening him up with praise.
She's got to be deathly afraid that tonight Bush is going to lay out the FACTS.
The FACTS make her look like a bumbling crybaby.
Bush was very correct in noting that problems existed at every level. But it's like dominoes. Once the first one falls down on the job, it forces the others to be unable to perform as intended. She blew it. He knows it and the American people know it. But leadership involves solving the problem....not sitting around waiting for it to reslove itself....which is what Blank-o continues to do. Get off your damn a** lady and make it work.

Hang her with naggin right beside her.
It was not the President's place to apologize for Anything. But now that he has she feels free to aplogize.

The intracoastal waterway is a busy ditch!
There is a shot where Blanco is being set up several days ago for a TV interview, and her press secretary is helping her adjust her mic. Theyre having a personal conversation, but the cameraman catches it!! In it, she kinda jokes to her press secretary something like yeah, well I guess I really need to ask for troops, and a couple more things she says. A bit later in hte segment she gets into a semi-argument with Miles OBrien, and hes pointedly asking her exactly WHEN she asked the President for troops. She gets frustrated and says she didnt even know what day it was the, she was confused, but Miles presses her.
video link, which I found here

I knew I had seen this information before. Thanks for posting.
Now that she and Bush has taken responsability I wonder if Nagin will come out with like this:
"Yes, they are both to blame, and now I would like a raise please.
Is now a bad time to announce my run for the Presidency?"
BLANKO got caught...when all of us on this side of the political spectrum knew all along she was lying... ;o)
Yeah I heard this on FNC this morning. Now she's saying that it's time to look forward. OH I get it. Last week she was still looking for someone(Bush) to burn at the stake for this. Now that she has to actually admit some responsibility(begrudgingly), it's time to look forward. What a phony. Any conservative worth their salt should make every effort to BURY her with this. Bush won't do a thing.
He already did remember. He took full responsibilty on Tuesday, and he wasn't even "caught on camera" making the admission. He's simply a class act.
