Aruba court lifts curbs on three suspects

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) -- A court ruled Wednesday that three suspects in the disappearance of a U.S. teenager can remain free without conditions -- overturning an earlier decision that restricted their travel and required them to remain available to investigators.

The appeals court ruled there was a "lack of sufficient grounds and serious suspicions" to keep the restrictions on Joran van der Sloot and two Surinamese brothers, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, the Aruban prosecutor's office said.

The three young men remain suspects in the May 30 disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

Holloway, 18, vanished on the final night of a high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island. Extensive searches have failed to find any trace of her.

Van der Sloot, 18, and the Kalpoe brothers -- the last people seen in public with the American -- were released from jail on September 3 on the condition they remain available for questioning.

Van der Sloot, who is Dutch, has since left for college in Holland, where he traveled with the court's permission. The Kalpoe brothers were barred from leaving Aruba.

Prosecutors filed an appeal seeking to have all three returned to jail, but the court rejected the request and removed the restrictions, said David Kock, a lawyer for 18-year-old Satish Kalpoe.

"They are totally free," Kock said.

Aruban authorities waited till the Holloway case was off the media's radar and then went ahead with releasing the suspects. IMHO, this case will never be solved.

Well, perhaps they could fly OJ in to complete their foursome for golf and they could all search for her killers.

I think you are right. Also, I hear that there is a one hour special on new evidence in the case today with the Holloway family private investigator. On the Dr. Phil show. 3 pm EST.

I will be looking forward to the big budget movie rendering; and, hope that it does to Aruba what Jaws did to beach goers. Aruba should be left to drown in its own excrement.

Katrina was so conveeeeenient for those who were waiting for cover from their dastardly deeds like the vandersluts and the kalkans. Also for the palesites. I felt bad for Beth Holloway -- she herself probably had trouble staying focused with so much going on at home. I don't know why Urine needs to go anywhere, he's already in Holland.

The justice system in Aruba failed a United States Citizen. A young woman is probably dead and justice will not be forthcoming. This was botched from the beginning as most of us know.

I suggest Aruba should definitely suffer a loss of tourism. This blather by local officials that the people of Aruba should not suffer economic hardship for this is BS. I say Aruba should be boycotted by all U. S. Citizens and Aruban officials should be BLAMED for the failure of Aruban economy when it happens.

If they suffer for this travesty, maybe the next kidnapping and murder committed by their elites will be handled a bit differently.

I have made up my mind to never bother going to the place. Agree totally Americans should stay away--to many other great places and too many other things to do that won't contribute to a corrupt economy such as aruba.

They will claim that there is no let down in tourism, but if you mention Aruba to anyone they will give you a funny look, and if you suggest it as a vacation spot they will say uhhh no thanks.

Try Belize. I hear it's nice. Probably same song, different dance though.

Sounds like they will be closing the case shortly. Bet the two brothers will get out of Aruba asap.

The sad part about it is that teens do so many stupid things and do not have any fear and feel nothing can happen to them. Parents biggest nightmare.

As much as we nag, preach I am sure even the good kids do things that we don't know about. The illegal use of alcohol and drugs to render someone helpless is something they really don't understand, especially traveling to a foreign country. I don't think there is much per parents can do at this point, other than use this tragedy to help educate other teens.

no, it doesn't appear this case will ever be solved and I think Natalee's mom needs to realize that and just go home. She needs to just turn it over to God now and let it go. Her poor daughter was likely murdered by these idiot boys, but I don't think there is anything more that is going to be done about it unless one of those idiots does some talking and spills their guts to someone and gets turned in. I just don't see anything happening anymore. That poor family will have to be one of those families that just never know what happend to their loved one.

If Americans had ANY sense of self respect and decency and national identity - which they don't - they would boycott Aruba, the Netherlands and all Ducth products from Heinken to Norelcos.

These three b@$t@rd$ raped and murdered a naive, young, innocent American girl and are walking away. And our own government is doing nothing about it.
