KIRKUK, Iraq – The West Kirkuk Province Leaders met here September 11 to discuss the latest voter registration numbers and current terrorist tactics, techniques and procedures for kidnappings and assassinations and how to mitigate the danger. All vowed to turn out as many voters as possible to participate in the upcoming Referendum.

Medical Visit MAFTUL, Iraq – Task Force Liberty medics conducted a medical visit here September 11. The medics treated 200 patients and dispensed over $2,000 worth of medicine to the needy people of Maftul.

New Vehicles FORWARD OPERATING BASE GABE, Iraq – As part of the program to upgrade and modernize the Iraqi army, the 4th Iraqi Army Brigade received 14 new multi-purpose trucks here September 11. The arrival of the trucks allows the brigades greater mobility and the enhanced capability to transport troops and supplies.

Flowing Progress KHAN BANI SA’AD, Iraq – Soldiers of Task Force 2-34 visited the water treatment plant project site here September 11 to assess the progress. The project was recently started and is already progressing well. Along with cleaning all the filtering units, all the pumps will be repaired, or replaced and two new pumps will be installed. In addition, the entire facility will be re-wired, a wall will be constructed around the entire facility and several interior building upgrades will be made. Once the project is competed, the plant will greatly improve the lives of these citizens and testify to the beneficial work done by their local government.

Medical Training FORWARD OPERATING BASE NORMANDY, Iraq –Soldiers of the 2-2 Iraqi Army Battalion where challenged here September 10 through medical training with the assessment and triage of patients, immediate first aid and the transportation of multiple casualties to the aid station for more advanced treatment. The real life training also focused on a myriad of injuries including compound fractures, open chest wounds, neck and back injuries and even shock and heart failure.

Village Assessments DIYALA, Iraq – Soldiers of Task Force 2-34 conducted village assessments of Kharnabat and surrounding villages September 8 in order to determine the local view of Iraqi Security Forces and develop a rapport. The majority of the locals welcomed the Coalition presence and were eager to talk about their concerns.

First Aid Class SHERWAN, Iraq – Medical personnel of Task Force 3-278 conducted a first aid class here September 11 for Iraqi women who live in rural areas. The training provided will allow injuries to be treated in route to a hospital or while waiting for an ambulance.

Security Meeting ISHAKI, Iraq – The Ishaki City Council and several area sheiks met with the Task Force Liberty Soldiers along with the commander of the 2-2 Iraqi Army Battalion and the Ishaki police chief here September 8 to discuss security in the Ishaki area, the upcoming elections and possible terrorist cells operating in their area. The Ishaki City Council continues to develop into an effective and proactive government. They discussed several ideas they will implement to ensure safety and security for their community.

Medical Coverage AD DULUIYAH, Iraq – Iraqi army medics conduct daily morning briefings and discuss medical coverage for upcoming events. In addition to managing medical supplies, teaching basic first aid classes and providing medical coverage for training exercises, Iraqi army medics triage and treat soldiers during daily sick call.

Conduct Weapons Training KIRKUK, Iraq – With the Iraqi Security Forces taking a larger role every day in securing their country, the police in Kirkuk Province are continually training. On a regular basis, officers conduct weapons familiarization training and live fire exercises.
